Dear Tubman Families,

We hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend and found time to honor and celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day on Monday!

We have an exciting week ahead, starting with our Local School Council meeting on Wednesday, October 14th, at 4:00 PM, and we invite all Tubman families to join us if you are able! Later in the week, on Friday, October 16th, our students will participate in Bulldog Buddies programming focused on Unity Day, which is the lead campaign of National Bullying Prevention Month originally started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in October 2011. The central message of this month and this special day is for our school community to unite for kindness, courage, and inclusion to prevent students from being bullied.

Updates

  • Special Education Staffing: With Mr. Gillis now fully onboarded as our new Special Education Teacher, we have updated teacher schedules. Ms. Ladzik has joined Ms. Starring’s first-grade classroom for part of the day, and Mr. Gillis will be teaching across our MYP classrooms and resource space. Please feel free to reach out to our Case Manager, Ms. Rosenberg, with any questions regarding these support shifts.

  • YMCA After-School Programming: Please review the flyers attached below for details on upcoming YMCA programming.

  • Cultivate Survey: Our 5th-8th grade students will soon be completing the Cultivate Survey between 10/13-10/23, this survey helps us gather essential feedback on their classroom experience and overall school environment.

Looking Ahead

  • Student-Led Conferences: Mark your calendars for Student-Led Conferences on Monday, November 2nd, from 10:45 AM to 5:00 PM. Your child's teacher will send out specific directions and signup details soon, but we wanted to ensure this date is on your radar.

Have a wonderful week!

Warmly,

Principal Hammaker
