calendar year, we want to express our deep gratitude for the vibrant community of students, staff, and families we have cultivated here at Tubman, where Excellence Grows Here through partnership. We have many festive and community-focused events ahead!



Upcoming Community Events and Giving

Student Council Winter Food Drive



Our Student Council has organized a Winter Food Drive to benefit our local partner, Nourishing Hope. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to demonstrate empathy and responsibility!

• When: Wednesday, December 3rd, through Tuesday, December 16th.

• How to Donate: Please drop off your non-perishable food donations in the designated boxes located outside the Main Office.

Holiday Lights Recycling Program: Tubman Community Drop Off Location

Don’t let broken holiday string lights tangle up your holidays – recycle them with us! Drop off your non-working holiday string lights between now and January 31 and Reduce Waste Chicago will take them to be properly recycled. Be sure your lights are separated from other decor and are free from other packaging (no plastic bags, please). Then drop them off during both regular and after school hours (7:45-5:30).

Free Neighborhood Event: Tots & Caregiver Holiday Music Class!

We are excited to invite our neighborhood families to a wonderful, free event hosted right here at Tubman! Our partners at Music House School of the Performing Arts will facilitate a special event:

• Tots & Caregiver Holiday Music Class! This fun, winter-themed class is designed for little ones (ages 0–5) and their caregivers.

• When: Friday, December 12th, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.



• RSVP: The event is free, but an RSVP is required to attend. Please share this invitation with any neighbors who have toddlers! Interested families can RSVP here.

Reminder: FOT Winterland Wishes This Saturday!

Don't forget to join us this weekend! We hope to see all of our families at our Friends of Tubman Winterland Wishes event this Saturday, December 6th, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM!

Please make sure to remind your students that cell phone use is not permitted during practice hours. While we understand that parents need to communicate with their child, practice time is strictly for practice.

Friends of Tubman is an all-volunteer group of parents and caregivers dedicated to making Tubman a great school for all students through fundraising and community events. Volunteers must complete the CPS volunteer registration and volunteer approval is valid for one school year.
