Bulldog Buddies & International Day of Peace

This Friday, we are excited to kick off our first Bulldog Buddies activity of the school year! Students will meet in cross-grade buddy groups to celebrate the International Day of Peace, a day dedicated to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.” Bulldog Buddies is a beloved Tubman tradition that helps students build friendships and community.To learn more about Peace Day, click here.

GoCPS Update

CPS offers a wide variety of high-quality high school programs across the city to meet the needs, interests, and goals of all Chicago students. Open houses are a great way to learn more about your neighborhood high school and explore programs across the city. High School Admissions Test (HSAT) Update

Last week, 8th grade classrooms discussed the upcoming HSAT and helpful test-taking strategies. Families, please take a few moments to read the HSAT Family Letter, which contains important details about the test.

Progress Reports

Progress Reports will be sent home with students on Friday, September 19. Please review them carefully and connect with your child’s teacher if you have questions or need additional support.

Free Movie Screening for Families

Finally, The Central Lakeview Neighbors Association (CLVN) will be hosting a free screening of Bad Guys at the Hawthorne School Field on Saturday, October 4, 2025. This is a wonderful opportunity to gather as a community and enjoy a family-friendly evening together.

Boys Soccer (5th-6th)

Practices start today, 3–4:30 PM at Jonquil Park. Please pick up students at Jonquil Park by 4:30 PM. Anyone not picked up will be walked back to Tubman. Practices are Mondays and Wednesdays, ending October 22nd. We have four games scheduled on Saturdays: October 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th. I’ll share game times soon—please save these dates!

GO CPS Fall Application & Testing Timeline 

• 9/23/2025: GO CPS application opens for Families Applying to K through 9th grade at 10AM.
• 10/8/2025: CPS HSAT for Current CPS Students.
• 10/15/2025: CPS HSAT for current CPS Students, alternative language.
• 11/14/2025: GO CPS application closes for Families Applying to K through 9th grade at 5PM.

There will be a series of live training sessions for families to become familiar with the fall GOCPS admissions process. Families are encouraged to attend any of the training sessions listed below. Families can also sign up for training via the link on the GOCPS website.

Please make sure your student's Emergency Form with current information has been turned into the main office. It is important for your student's correct address to be entered in ASPEN.

Friends of Tubman is an all-volunteer group of parents and caregivers dedicated to making Tubman a great school for all students through fundraising and community events. Volunteers must complete the CPS volunteer registration and volunteer approval is valid for one school year.
