As we kick off another week of learning, please look for an important email from me via Aspen regarding the significance of consistent student attendance. This update highlights how being present and on time fosters your child’s social-emotional growth and academic success. We have many exciting opportunities for community engagement and student progress this month, so please review the highlights below to stay informed.


School Updates


  • Gym Repairs: We are happy to share that the gym repairs are coming along well! The floor restoration work is currently underway and is expected to continue through this week and next. We appreciate your patience as we finalize these improvements to our physical education and community space.


  • Assistant Principal Search: We have officially started the interview process for our new Assistant Principal. I am excited about the candidates we are meeting and look forward to finding a leader who will continue to support our students and staff. I will keep you updated as this process moves forward.


Upcoming Events

  • Local School Council (LSC) Meeting: Please join us this Wednesday, January 14th, at 6:00 PM in Room 109.


  • Middle-of-Year (MOY) Testing: Our MOY testing window begins this week. Classroom teachers will share specific dates and details regarding your child’s class schedule soon.


  • I ❤️ Tubman Pledge Drive: This vital fundraiser kicks off later this month! These donations support school initiatives that directly benefit our students. Stay tuned for more details from the Friends of Tubman.


  • Coffee with the Principal: Join me on Wednesday, January 28th, at 8:00 AM in the lunchroom (Room 107). This is a great opportunity to hear about current school priorities and share your feedback on the year so far.


Important Reminders

  • MLK Day (No School): A friendly reminder that there is no school on Monday, January 19th, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. We look forward to seeing all students back on Tuesday, January 20th.


  • Next Newsletter: Since school is closed on Monday the 19th, the next Bulldog Blast will be sent out on Tuesday, January 20th.

Out of School Time

Friends of Tubman is an all-volunteer group of parents and caregivers dedicated to making Tubman a great school for all students through fundraising and community events. Volunteers must complete the CPS volunteer registration and volunteer approval is valid for one school year.
