A Message From PTSA

As our 2022-2023 school year starts, the Central High School PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) wants to reach out to our whole BULLDOG community (students, teachers, staff, administrators, alumni, parents and guardians) and encourage you to join  (https://tinyurl.com/5n77s4y2) our CHS PTSA again or for the first time. There is always strength in numbers and the more memberships (individual and business) we have, the better we can accomplish our goals of serving the entire school on multiple levels.

Join us for the next PTSA meeting of the year on September 26, 2022 from 6-7pm at Central in Conference Room 124. Come hear from the administration and learn about what is going on at Central. Look for a letter from PTSA about our annual fundraiser to come out shortly.

(instagram.com/CentralPTSA; //Facebook.com/CentralHighSchoolPTSA; twitter @CentralPTSA); email us at bulldogsPTSA@gmail.com; or find information at Central's website under Parents/Guardians. Most importantly, please join our CHS PTSA this school year!

MYP Self-Study

The IB Middle Years Programme involves all 9th and 10th grade students at Central High School. Currently, Central High School is in the self-study stage of the IB Evaluation Cycle for the IB Middle Years Programme. We would love your input into our progress as a school and as the IB Middle Years Programme. The commitment might include surveys, emails, and a few face to face meetings over the next two years. If you currently have a 9th or 10th grade student at Central or if your student completed the Personal Project in the last two years, this might be a good service opportunity for you! If you are interested, please fill out the form by following the link:

Attention Diploma Program Seniors!

Full DP Seniors should be finishing the rough drafts of their Extended Essays.

EE Rough Drafts are due on September 18!

Students should reach out to their EE Supervisors or Mrs. McIntyre (EE Coordinator) if they have questions or need guidance--we're all here to help!

Central Journalism wants to alert you of a few informational items as we roll into this school year.

2023 SCHOOL PORTRAITS
Our school picture days are scheduled with Lifetouch. Please make sure that your student is aware of the following dates:
  • Friday, September 30, 2022 - All Staff & Students (6th-12th grade) Picture Day
  • Tuesday, November 15, 2022 - All Staff & Students (6th-12th grade) Picture RETAKES Day

Please note that ALL students 6th-12th grade must take their photo with Lifetouch photographers at Central to appear in the portrait section of the yearbook. We do not accept photos from other photographers for the portrait section.

2023 YEARBOOKS
Please make sure to purchase your yearbook online at JostensYearbooks.com (via credit or debit card) by going to the website above and clicking on “Order Your Yearbook” before the end of April.
The pricing changes throughout the school year, and prices are determined by the school district. If you buy early, you save! Here’s how the pricing breaks down:
  • $45.00 August 1 through September 30
  • $50.00 October 1 through February 28
  • $55.00 March 1 or later
The yearbook is created by students for students! It has a hard cover, 208 pages, and is printed in full color. My students take photos, write stories, use publishing software to put the pages together, and edit it all themselves before the publishing company prints and binds the books.

SENIOR RECOGNITION ADS
In honor of those preparing to graduate, the Central High School Résumé yearbook will include senior
recognition ads consisting of photos and messages to the Class of 2023. Parents and/or guardians have an opportunity to purchase these ads in order to commemorate their child’s graduation, in addition to the purchase of a 2023 Yearbook. The proceeds of yearbook sales and senior ads will benefit the Central High School Journalism Department. We use these funds to help us pay off the production costs of the yearbook.

This year, Central Journalism is taking advantage of a new opportunity to streamline the senior recognition ad purchasing process. Starting August 1, please make sure to purchase your optional senior ad online at JostensYearbooks.com (via credit or debit card) by going to the website above and clicking on “Order Recognition Ad” before the end of December. Online, you will be able to choose a layout, upload your photos, type your message, and create your student’s ad. The yearbook staff will edit your ads for style and consistency with the rest of the yearbook. You are also able to pay with your credit or debit card online. Here’s how the pricing breaks down:
  • $75.00 1/8 page senior ad
  • $125.00 1/4 page senior ad
  • $200.00 1/2 page senior ad
Don’t forget that a senior ad purchase does not also purchase your student a yearbook. A yearbook purchase and a senior ad purchase are separate items.

Have a great school year, and Go Bulldogs!

Fundraising Opportunity

Do you have students that need help with activity fees and raising money for school activities? Do I have a deal for you! Each student can earn $30.00 for their club, organization, or put money towards their IB exam fees (IB Juniors and Seniors only) by helping with the concession stand in the Pit. 😊 Each shift is approximately 4 hours and I’ll make sure you get something to eat and drink while you’re there. We need help beginning on the first of September and more spots will open as basketball schedules get finalized.
