IBDC Endorsement Process

Each candidate in a given race will be given two minutes for an opening statement, each candidate will then have a chance to respond to the same three questions during a Q&A session, and finally each candidate will be allowed a two minute closing statement.

In order to receive an endorsement a candidate must receive 60% of the votes from our members who are qualified voting members and present at the meeting. In races with multiple candidates for one open seat in which no candidate receives 60% of the greater of the votes, the lowest vote-getter will drop off the ballot, and a second round of voting will commence.

If no candidates receive 60% or greater in the second round, the lowest vote getter will drop off the ballot and an additional round of voting will commence until there is only one candidate and the No Endorsement option for the remaining choices. The option for No Endorsement will remain as an option during each round of voting.

If no candidate (or the No Endorsement option) receives 60% or greater of the votes cast during the final round of voting, the Chair will entertain a motion to rate candidates as Qualified. The threshold to pass as Qualified is 60%.
