Notes from IBDEA Headquarters
Hello, February! IBDEA Staff has been busy little bees helping new and existing members with all things conference-related this past month. We are pleased to announce that our attendance has exceeded 2020, and numbers are close to approaching 2019.
Our 2022 Annual Conference is less than 30 days away. Please make sure you have both registration and hotel confirmations. There will be details on the NEW conference app in the upcoming issue of Conference News (February 16). Schedule updates and other Conference-related information are on our website under Events | Conference 2022.
On January 21, the IBDEA Board of Directors voted on and approved the Nominating Committee's recommendation to fill the open Board seat. Please welcome Morris Hartley, H&H Products Company, as IBDEA's newest Board member. Visit About | Officers & Directors for a complete list.

2022 Trend Report
- 75% of Consumers are looking forward to new food and beverage trends in 2022
- 41% of Generation Z drink non-dairy milk daily or weekly
- The most popular food with Boomers and Gen X is Italian, while it’s Mexican food for Millennials and Gen Z
Orlando metro area’s 10,096 unique restaurant locations
- 5,301 are Independent (i.e., not part of a Chain)
- 3,930 serve alcohol (i.e., draft beer is likely)
- 1,623 are estimated annual sales of >$1M

- New York consumers index twice as high as the average US on soda flavor preference

IBDEA will follow Florida, Orlando, and the Caribe Royale guidelines. Currently, they are not requiring proof of vaccination or requiring masks on property. The IBDEA is excited to announce that Henry Fishkind, Ph. D., will be a keynote speaker at the 2022 Conference! With over 30 years of experience in economic analysis and forecasting, Dr. Henry Fishkind is widely regarded as one of Florida's premier economists and financial advisors.
Dr. Fishkind's career began in the public sector, where he worked as an economist and associate professor at the University of Florida. In 1980, Dr. Fishkind became the associate director for programs at the University of Florida's Bureau of Economic and Business Research. During his tenure at the university, Dr. Fishkind served from 1979-1981 on the governor's economic advisory board. He began his career as a private-sector consultant when he became president of M.G. Lewis Econometrics in Winter Park, Florida. In 1988, Dr. Fishkind formed Fishkind & Associates, Inc. as a full-service economic and financial consulting firm. In 2019, Dr. Fishkind sold his business's financial advisory, consulting, and real estate advisory portions while keeping the expert witness portion, Fishkind Litigation Services, Inc.
