Safe Environment Training S.E.T

As you know, everyone working with children and youth is required to take the S.E.T. Training. We are encouraging all volunteers to take the class since you probably will come into contact with children or youth at some time. There will be an English training on

Saturday, October 19 at 9:00 am.

Please contact Margie to register (so we will be sure to have enough materials)

JPIC Fall Faith Formation Presentation

In Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis encourages us to seek “a better kind of politics, one truly at the service of the common good” (no. 154). How will you respond?

On Thursday, October 24, from 7-8:30 pm, in San Damiano 2, Ken Chiha, Director of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) will offer our Fall JPIC faith formation presentation on Catholic Social Teaching and the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops initiative, “Civilize It - A Better Kind of Politics.”

As we approach our upcoming election on November 05th, this presentation will focus on the Catholic Church and Pope Francis’s vision of politics as one human family, listening to understand, encounter, and grow through charity, clarity, and creativity to identify common values and seek the truth together, where we jointly come up with solutions to the problems that face our world.

Light refreshments will be provided. All members of our Immaculate Conception parish and the Immaculata School community are welcome to join us.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is domestic violence awareness month. Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) has invited Laura Yeomans, an educator and fellow with Catholics For Family Peace, to speak with our parish community about how to help family and friends experiencing domestic abuse. She will meet with our “Parents and Couples group” on Saturday October 26, 10 am - 12 pm in the St. Claire trailer. All are welcome.

As Parish Partners Program Manager for the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., Laura coordinated parish outreach, including workshops and support in developing domestic violence ministries and giving presentations for teens about healthy and unhealthy dating and relationships. She is available to speak with other adult ministries and teenagers as well. You can contact Laura at lyeomans@igc.org.

Immaculata Catholic School receives the 2024 National Blue Ribbon School Award

Immaculata is proud to add a second (2024) National Blue Ribbon Schools Award to the original NBRS award given to the school in 2012. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognized Immaculata as a school excelling in academic performance. Every year since the Program was established in 1982, the U.S. Department of Education has sought out and highlighted schools that are demonstrating outstanding academic programming success. The prestigious National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of Immaculata students, educators, families, and communities that are creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.

Special Collection: World Mission Sunday

In 1926 Pope Pius XI instituted Mission Sunday for the whole Church with the first worldwide Mission Sunday collection taking place in October 1927. The Mission Sunday collection is always taken on the next to last Sunday during the month of October. That day is celebrated in all the local Churches as the feast of catholicity and universal solidarity so Christians the world over will recognize their common responsibility with regard to the evangelization of the world

Love Fund

The Love Fund comes from a family in our parish. This 31-year-old father is waiting for a kidney transplant and is on dialysis three days a week. He has two small children, and his wife is unable to work because she is taking care of him and the children. His mother is ill with cancer, and her medical bills prevent her from helping the family. Any financial help would be appreciated.
