We are excited about the fresh academic year! The Association board of directors met recently to approve new board members and discuss changes that are afoot for this year's students. We will share more details in the next newsletter as the calendar becomes solidified.
We are curious: As an alumnus, what do you value most about your ICAF/ES experience? Was it strictly the academic curriculum? What about sports - could you have lived without out or did it contribute in a memorable way to your overall experience? Are the connections you made most important to you? Did traveling impact you most? If you'd like to share more about your student experience and what you valued most, please send us an email at
info@icaf-es-association.org.
We would love to hear your thoughts!

On July 1, 2018,
Bill Hamblet
, Captain, U.S. Navy (Retired) (ES 2013) became the Editor-in-Chief of the U.S. Naval Institute's
Proceedings
magazine and Director of Periodicals. Hamblet joined the Naval Institute in September 2016 just after retiring from the Navy. He became deputy editor-in-chief last summer and now, with the retirement of long-time editor-in-chief Fred Rainbow, he will be the editor.
Proceedings
is one of the oldest magazines in the United States. The first issue was published in 1874. It became a monthly magazine in 1917, and in 2017 added Proceedings Today, which is online-only content published three or four times a week.
Some of the publication's more famous contributors include: Alfred Thayer Mahan, Chester Nimitz, Ernest J. King, John LeJeune, Arleigh Burke, Sandy Winnefeld, Jim Stavridis, Al Gray, and Jim Mattis. Proceedings is well-known for its unique (in military publishing circles) open forum. The publication does not have an editorial point of view. Proceedings will publish great ideas by people of all ranks. May the best ideas win.
If you find yourself in Annapolis, please stop by and visit. Interested in writing for Proceedings? Give Bill a call at 410-295-1043.
