Supply Corps Officer Nominated for Promotion

A nomination for promotion of Captain Kenneth W. Epps to the rank of Rear Admiral (lower half) was received in the Senate and referred to the Committee on Armed Services.

CAPT Epps (ICAF 2009) is currently serving as Assistant Professor, Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, National Defense University, Washington, D.C.

CAPT Epps is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was the recipient of the Frank Hawkins Kenan Award for Excellence. He is a distinguished graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (2009) and completed the Executive Program in Strategy and Organization at Stanford University.

Previous shore and staff assignments include assistant commander for Operations and Warfare Engagement, Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; commanding officer, NAVSUP FLC Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; chief, Strategy and Readiness Division, Joint Staff (J4); assistant commander for Financial Management and Comptroller, NAVSUP, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; director, Materiel Budgets, Naval Inventory Control Point, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; action officer, Defense Logistics Agency (J-33); readiness analyst and Program Objective Memorandum (POM) development assistant, OPNAV (N80), Washington, D.C.; aide and flag lieutenant to the Commander, NAVSUP and Chief of Supply Corps, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; and instructor and educational counselor, Navy Supply Corps School, Athens, Georgia.

He served afloat tours on USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55) and USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). His personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and various campaign and unit awards. He is a Joint Qualified Officer and member of the Defense Acquisition Corps.

Meet us at Ike's Pub/Wardroom inside The Eisenhower School by 10 a.m. We will walk to Grant Hall where Dr. Severance will deliver his highly sought after tour of the Lincoln Conspirators Courtroom. Event is open to all alumni. FREE for Lifetime members and guests. $10 per person for all other alumni and their guests. Maximum number of guests allowed is 45. Please RSVP to reserve your spot. Reservation spots will fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests must be able to climb two flights of stairs.

After the tour, stop back by Ike's Pub/Wardroom for a light lunch provided by the Association.

Special note: The Washington Nationals are playing the New York Mets in a 1:05 p.m. home game. If you have plans to attend the game, this is a great pre-game activity!

Special alumni tour of Gettysburg! We will meet at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 11.

We will caravan around the park, stopping along the way to enjoy Dr. Paul Severance's battlefield knowledge.

Bring water, snacks, and a bag lunch. The Association will provide refreshments along and after the tour (location of gathering to be determined).

No limit on the number of attendees. Please let us know if you will be joining us so we bring plenty of refreshments!

The ICAF-ES Alumni Association is seeking nominations for board president. Please submit nominations to info@icaf-es-association.org. Nominations must include the consent of the person being nominated. Active Association member are eligible to vote. For more details on the election process, please view the Association By-Laws.

An annual meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Baruch Auditorium. A reception will precede the meeting at 12:00 p.m., with the meeting to commence at 1:00 p.m. Once the meeting date/time is confirmed, an email invitation will be sent.
 
Join us for an Independence Day celebration beginning at 1600. The Alumni Association will provide burgers and hot dogs prepared by world-renowned chef, The Mauler. Bring a side/dessert to share if you would like. FREE for all! (Donations appreciated to benefit the Major General Joseph D. and Sue Brown Memorial Scholarship Program.)

Special note: There is a Washington Nationals game at 11:05 on July 4. If you are attending the game, park at Fort McNair and join us afterward!

We will have corn hole and softball equipment available for a pick-up game. Bathrooms available inside the school.
