ICANN 53 Edit-a-thon: What did you work on?

We had a great turn-out for our first advertised Edit-a-thon! Many of you stopped by to make small edits to your personal page or organization and some of you more industrious attendees created new pages altogether. We had fun meeting all of you, answering your questions and learning more about what you do in your day to day lives.

Here is a list of all the articles updated or created during the Edit-a-thon:

ICANN 53 Wrap-Up

Our ICANN 53 experience (Jackie's second time, Dustin's first) was made all the better by our partnership with
Dominios Latinoamerica. If you stopped by our booth you probably noticed a few extra people managing intakes and explaining what we do. Pepa Cena, a member of the Dominios staff helped tremendously and made it possible for native Spanish speakers to be better oriented and understand our site. We were also helped by Daniel Marshall, a young student who attended ICANN to learn more about ICANN's relationship and activities around Human Rights.

When we were able to break from the booth we sought out sessions that we knew would bring meaningful content to ICANNWiki. We delayed our booth set-up and attended the early Monday morning Opening Ceremony to learn more about the upcoming ICANN 54, to be held in Dublin, Ireland and more.

Session highlights included introductions and welcomes from Gabriel Brenta (Director at NIC.ar) and Rodrigo De La Parra (ICANN Regional VP). Our personal favorite part of the ceremony was the ICANN Multistakeholder Ethos Awards, which recognized the efforts of Nii Quaynor and Cheryl Langdon-Orr, long-time volunteers in the ICANN community.

The session concluded with some hard numbers about the IANA transition and its progress. President Chehade outlined a soft-deadline for the transition, describing the three-step process that lies ahead. Stakeholders across the globe have worked hard, and so far have committed upwards of 13,000 hours of their time to ensure the safe transfer of IANA.

We met some incredibly passionate and hardworking individuals in Buenos Aires and we look forward to working with all of you again in Dublin. We hope you stop by our booth and say hello! Til next time, join the conversation at icannwiki.com!
