ICC Hosts Design Recruitment Day

The design field is competitive, and the best companies are always looking for the best talent. On March 31, some of the best design firms and design-oriented businesses in the region will be visiting the ICC to meet members of both the junior and senior classes.

"This opportunity is so valuable to our students to be able to learn about companies and career opportunities, but to also gain valuable experience interacting with industry professionals, get feedback on their resumes and portfolios, and to give companies an exclusive look at our students in a meet and greet setting," said ICC President and Co-founder, Jim Stevenson.

The event is free to companies who wish to participate and will also feature the opportunity for on-site interviewing. If you would like to register your company to attend, please click the button below before March 30.

ICC Sponsors LaunchHack Start Up Event

Industrial designers are nearly three times more likely to become entrepreneurs than the regular working public, so the innovation principles, startup mentality and business model building skillsets have all been a part of the ICC curriculum since day one.

On February 24-26, the ICC was the presenting sponsor for one of the regions' most popular and most successful startup "hackathons" in downtown Dayton, at the newly-renovated Arcade Innovative Hub. The LaunchHack Start Up Weekend welcomed over 75 students from five regional universities, including seven seniors from ICC's Industrial and Innovative Design major and six students from Cedarville University's business program.

ICC co-founders and staffers Tom Balliett, Jim Stevenson and Trayton Ojala also participated in the event, providing mentorship, presentation feedback and representing the company and program.

Meet Robert Saieg, Class of 2020, who left the warmth and sunshine of southern California to experience the Industrial and Innovative Design program at the ICC taught in partnership with Cedarville University. After graduating Robert returned to California and is now an industrial design at AKJohnston, a premier, large-scale, experiential design firm. The firm's 37,000 square foot headquarters, design studio and fabrication facility is located in Anaheim, and services some of the most recognizable brands in the world including Puma, Hulu, Disney, HBO, Levi's, YSL and more!

"My job is to help find a happy medium of what the client wants to what's physically possible," said Saieg. Once that balance is found Robert then models the solution and creates shop drawings for the company's fabrication department to create the experience.

The firm services events, amusement park, concert and retail industries and delivers everything from initial designs to fabrication to full production services.
