Spring is in the air...

Kay Sackville Breuer
Greater Burlington Partnership

The sun is shining and it's beginning to warm up a bit. The tulips and daffodils add a  pop of color, it's wonderful to enjoy the beautiful sights. Spring is my favorite time of  year, not only because of the weather, but also here at the Chamber. It's time to  continue to grow and recharge.

Everything at the Chamber seems to benefit as spring blossoms, we see higher
attendance at events, more new members and volunteers are more active. Event staff
members get the recharge they need through lots of professional development.

It was wonderful to attend the ICCE conference last week, I always enjoy the burst of  energy I have after a conference. The benefits of networking with other professionals,  gaining new ideas and learning from the speakers is a great way to bring back to  Greater Burlington and the members we serve.

In looking ahead on my calendar I know the MACE conference is up next. Another  opportunity to recharge with a twist! MACE offers the opportunity to network with other  professionals from North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin in  addition to seeing my Iowa peers. MACE (Mid America Chamber Executives) is  available for all ICCE members to take advantage of, utilizing the benefits of MACE is a  benefit of your ICCE membership. MACE offers a number of services in addition to the  annual conference, which is held each May.

The Greater Burlington Partnership has taken advantage of one of the benefits from  MACE called the Member Satisfaction Survey. The Member Satisfaction Survey is a  powerful tool that allows you to gauge what your members are thinking. The survey  allows you to touch base with your membership and identify your chamber's strengths  and weaknesses.

The best part about the survey is it's easy and doesn't take up much time, which we all  need more of.

YOU tell MACE when you want to survey your membership
YOU customize the questions with your chamber's programs
MACE designs your survey
MACE provides you with the message and survey instructions for you to send to your  members
MACE collects your data
MACE analyzes the results
MACE provides you with:

  • a report of your members' responses with color charts and graphs
  • a powerpoint presentation comparing your data to industry averages any
  • additional products/options you ordered

I encourage you to take advantage of the benefits of MACE and to attend the annual
conference May 6-8 in Sioux Falls for another recharge!

Urbandale, West Des Moines, Ankeny receive top honors in Cityview contest
The results are in, and the Urbandale Chamber has taken home top honors in the annual Cityview contest for best chamber, with West Des Moines and Ankeny listed as the runners-up. The publication lists the following reason for Urbandale being chosen the winner by the voters:

The Urbandale Chamber of Commerce has more than 700 businesses and 18,000 representatives in its coalition. Those are impressive numbers, but what really sealed the deal for our voters is how it serves, protects and promotes each one of those members and businesses. 2830 100th St., Suite110, Urbandale. 515-331-6855; http://uniquelyurbandale.com
