Benefit of International Trips

We have been fortunate at the Marshalltown Area Chamber of  Commerce to host three successful international trips with our members and the general public. We've dubbed these "Experience" trips, promoting them as a cultural exchange where participants learn about the history of an area, while experiencing the beautiful scenery and culture.
ICCE is offering one of these trips in 2016 and I would encourage you to take a look at participating. These trips offer your local residents a unique opportunity to travel in a group setting, where many details have been preplanned and organized for your convenience. This type of travel is great because you're accompanied by a tour director and local guides who provide you information on businesses, the education system, local economy, and what day-to-day life is like in their area.
What came as a great side benefit of Experience trips would offer is a sense of community and comradery. The travelers get to know each other better, they discuss issues impacting your community and brainstorm possible solutions to challenges you may be experiencing. They come back from the trip with a greater understanding, not only about the part of the world you have visited, but also your community and your Chamber.
The ICCE trip to Ireland will be a great opportunity for your Chamber to "test the waters" on global travel. Please consider participating. It's really a win-win for yo ur Chamber, your travelers and ICCE!

Executive Director, Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce
Discover and Explore Scenic Ireland
Departing - October 19, 2016

Now is the time to begin to encourage your members to participate in the ICCE Ire land trip.
You may think it's almost a year away, but now is the time to get your members enthused about a great travel experience and providing them information on the highlights of the trip.
If they make a deposit on the trip by January 31, 2016 their cost will be $2,999/person.

The cost is really hard to believe; airlines are charging nearly $2,000 just for air fare.

View the video that Chamber Discoveries presented at the ICCE Fall Conference in Clear Lake and see the great places you will be visiting. And then, take the video and brochures to all of your meetings. Chamber Discoveries is willing to come to your meetings and make a presentation as well.

Additional information can be found on the ICCE website including contact information for our board members and Executive Director Shar Pardubsky - they would be happy to attend your meeting(s) and do a presentation on the trip.

Remember this can be a great revenue generator for your Chamber.  For every traveler you register, your Chamber will receive $200 and the opportunity for you, someone on your staff or a member to make the trip at no cost with every 10 registrations you secure!

Please start promoting NOW......

Please take the time to thank Tim Coffey, President, Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce and his staff for hosting the ICCE Fall Conference in Clear Lake.

The "Lady of the Lake" provided a perfect evening for networking and seeing a beautiful sunset.  Dinner at one of the favorite restaurants in Clear Lake was great, and an evening at the Surf Ballroom was something everyone should experience.   Learning about the history of the Surf and those who performed there was amazing

Thank you Tim and your team, it was a great conference.

Hosting ICCE Conferences

Would your chamber be interested in hosting either the One Day Conference or Fall Conference in 2017?  Find out more about what conference hosting entails by reviewing the following two documents:

New Member Orientation
We had a great turn out for our New Member Orientation at the Fall Conference.

We hope you had the opportunity to learn more what ICCE has to offer.  If you have any questions and need information please feel free to contact any board member or Shar Pardubsky, Executive Director.

Thank you to Kathy Rollefson, Forest City Chamber and Brian Buethe, Waukee Area Chamber for sharing with our new members what ICCE is and what it has to offer its members.
Budgeting Time
ICCE knows it is that time of the year, and many of you may have already completed your budgeting process for next year or will soon be working on it.  Besides budgeting for your ICCE membership.  ICCE wants to inform its members of some opportunities you may want to budget for the upcoming year 2016.

ICCE will host a One Day Conference and Fall Conference in 2016, cost for these events have not yet been confirmed but we would guess you could plan for the two conferences $300 plus expenses.

Another new item ICCE will be offering members is an opportunity to travel to Washington, DC for the Small Business Summit with the U.S. Chamber on June 13-15, 2016.  All information regarding the DC is in the process of being put together, but for budgeting purposes you can plan on approximately $2,000 which would include travel, hotel, registration fee and some meals.  We will have 2 days of speakers and one day on the hill to meet with Iowa Congressional leaders and their staff.

ICCE knows that not all members have an interest in government relations, but this will be a great opportunity for Chamber staff and your volunteers to meet with speakers of great interest to your Chamber, meet with your congressmen and congresswomen and learn how the process works in DC.

More information and details on the DC trip will be forthcoming, but ICCE wanted to make you aware of a great opportunity for its members.
Board Member Planning Session
Your ICCE Board will be holding their one and one-half planning session in November.

If there are any issues or concerns you would like your board to look at or address please forward to your Chair Nikki Brevig.

Or if you are interested in serving on the board please contact Chair Nikki Brevig.

The ICCE Board of Directors always appreciates any of your input.
