The ICGC Youth Board By-Laws Committee is at work!  Step 1 - By-Laws Presented "December 2019" Step 2 - Nominations for positions "December 2019 - January 2020" Step 3 - Board Elections "January 2020" The ICGC Youth Board is excited to be taking over the ICGC Friday Youth Meetings beginning in February 2020 immediately following Board Elections!

 Dear Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati Youth AsSalamu Alaikum, I hope and pray that you are doing well.The Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati Youth Oversight Committee has been working diligently to revive the ICGC Youth Board. We are seeking nominations from across the community of youth who are excited to help drive youth programs and be a voice for the community’s youth.  The Oversight Committee is charged with compiling a slate of candidates for the election. Please remember that ANY youth in the community who are currently 8th grade - 11 grade are eligible to serve on the ICGC Youth Board.  Please use the link below if you are interested in running for the Youth Board.  The last date to submitting your nominations is December 31st, 2019.  Thank you for your commitment and support of our youth at ICGC. Steering Committee Super Star! - Mariam Alwattari It was super rewarding to contribute to the ICGC “Faith Under Fire” Youth Conference. Seeing so many kids and young adults gather at ICGC in excitement was heartwarming. In a climate where young Muslims in America face difficulty and confusion in identifying with their faith, I think this sort of youth event is crucial to the development of trust within the community. It allows the youth to have fun, interact with peers, learn, and most importantly ask questions in a safe space. While I think there is still work to be done to strengthen the sense of support and trust the youth feel they have in their masjid community, the youth conference and programs are certainly a great start. One lecture stood out to me for the younger track called “Who Are Your Friends?,” with lecturers Fiyyaz Jaat and Naeem Baig. I must say, the crowd of audibly excited little kids seemed like a tough one to engage, but the two managed to captivate the children with an interactive storytelling style that made it more like a conversation/game. The kids were overjoyed and eager to participate. The best part was that the pair of speakers told important stories in a way that was simple enough to understand as a little kid without losing the profound message about being a good friend that applies to all.

Authors at Work ! Write a one page piece on how the ICGC Youth Conference Impacted you . The piece could be about any aspect of the conference. Write a short piece about who you are to be included in the Youth Voice Section of the Newsletter. The article could be about, where you go to school, what are your goals, what's your experience as a Muslim American etc etc. You can also submit a poem or other creative writings.
