Prayers for Sri Lanka
On behalf of the Interfaith communities, we express our sincere condolences to the families of those who have lost their loved ones in this senseless attack on fellow human beings in Sri Lanka, at a time of reminding ourselves why Christians celebrate Easter every year.
Let us all lift our hearts in order to seek peace today and always, surrendering our needs to achieve understanding, peace and all else. We pray for our brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka to keep peace despite pain inflicted on their lives at this time, struggling for solutions amidst differing understanding which can seem impossible at times. May those who died in this attack rest their souls in eternal peace. Amen!
Edrine Ddungu
President, ICGS

RUMI: A Film & Music Concert
|
RUMI: A Film & Music Concert
An interactive film and music festival celebrating the Persian poet, scholar, theologian, and Sufi mystic, Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī. Be enlightened and inspired by his thoughts, his heart, and his spirit.
The concert project will interweave a collection of short inspirational and educational films, highlighting the life of Rumi and the Sufi culture, with choral settings of Rumi’s poetry. The films and music together create a bridge by which western readers now can access a strong sense of Rumi’s transcendent message of unity consciousness and mystical anti-orthodoxy.

World Refugee Day Celebration
SAVE THE DATE!
Please see a general flyer for the June 8th World Refugee Day celebration in partnership with the local resettlement agencies and Sacramento Republic FC! We will have three events throughout June and July to celebrate refugees, starting with a family fun day and refugee adult soccer tournament on June 8th, followed by a storytelling night on June 20th, and finalized with Sacramento Republic FC’s home game on July 13th spotlighting World Relief Sacramento. During that game, a trophy will be presented at halftime to the winners of our June 8th refugee soccer tournament.
Please visit the
World Refugee Day website to learn more about how you can be involved at our resource fair (early bird registration through May 8th), as a sponsor/volunteer/player, or if you just want to come and enjoy this FREE event. We are expecting Mayor Steinberg to be there again and to make the event bigger and better this year!
Feel free to contact me with any questions – I’m looking forward to seeing you all there.
