Wolf Pride Updates
Letter from the Head of School...
Planning is the pathway for growth and new experiences.
I am proud to share that Immaculate Conception High School (ICHS) spent the 2018-2019 academic year engaged in a strategic planning process that involved community-wide conversations to reflect on ICHS's priorities and discuss where the school could grow and improve. Through this process, we developed an ambitious five-year strategic plan, focused on strengthening our community and expanding our impact on our students, families, and alumnae across the country. As a result of the in-depth work accomplished by the Strategic Planning Committee and the entire ICHS community, over the next five years, ICHS will be transformed into a  Next Generation School with a more robust Advancement Program.

The framework for this plan as well as its goals and objectives follow the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools, focused around the National Standard's four domains: Mission and Catholic Identity, Academic Excellence, Governance and Leadership, and Operational Vitality. The Felician Core Values for Ministry are infused throughout the plan as well, ensuring the Felician-Francisican charism remains at the forefront of every student's education.

This integrated strategic plan requires us to think realistically and creatively about how we organize and use our resources as we launch this five-year blueprint for ICHS's continued growth and development. We have important work to do together to realize our potential, and I have full confidence in our community to make these goals a reality.

I hope you enjoy our updates as we share all the great things that are happening at ICHS!  I look forward to your ideas and participation as we continue to grow together.

Peace and All Good,

Ambassador and Student Council Installation
"When no one is listening, they are talking about how to bring more spirit and activities to their school, when we are waiting , they are reading us our announcements & prayers for the day , when we leave IC for the weekend, they are attending school fairs and open houses, when we are quick to find what went wrong, they are already coming up with possible solutions," enthusiastically stated Ms. Tara Connor, Co-Advisor of the Council, as she opened up the Annual Student Council & Student Ambassador Installation on Friday, September 27, 2019. This year, there were 15 members included in both Executive Boards and 16 Homeroom Representatives and Class Representatives. The Student Council and Student Ambassadors work closely together each year and devote their time to volunteering in the community, study body activities, enrollment events, and most of all, to the growth and prosperity of ICHS.

At the induction, Kathleen Zdanowicz '14, who was President of the Student Council Executive Board her senior year, joined the ceremony and gave her warm remarks to the new members. "You can think big - dream big. You can make a difference, make this year your year." Miss Mineo then called upon the names of the members of both the Student Council and Ambassador Executive Board, who each received a blue blazer to symbolize their leadership position.

Mrs. Olivia Grabowski, Co-Advisor of the Student Council, then installed the Student Council class officers and homeroom representatives. She also called upon Kangela Guerrero, Student Council President, to give her warm welcome for the school year to the student body.

Kangela stated "I stand here today as your President to encourage you all to follow your dreams and work on making them a reality! Striving for greatness and working toward your goals are extremely important, and I have faith that you can accomplish anything you set your heart and mind to. You are all beautiful, unique, and intelligent young women in this world inside and out. The students smiled and beamed as they looked at their fellow sister at the podium, as they knew that this was absolutely going to be their year.

Miss Mineo, Ambassador Advisor for the last 5 years, closed the ceremony with words of encouragement to the new members. She told them, with excitement, to be brave and have courage this year to embrace change, transformation and to work together to make a difference at ICHS and to make it a year to remember!
Kathleen Zdanowicz, `14
Kathleen Zdanowicz graduated ICHS in 2014 where she was actively involved in athletics and extracurricular activities. She went on to study fashion merchandising and public relations at Marist College, and graduated in 2018 Cum Laude, with the Silver Needle Runway Award for her program's top marketing project. Currently, she is working at an international e-commerce image processing company as an account manager for luxury brands.

IC was just the start for her career. She said, "I really can't stress enough the confidence I gained learning in an all-girl environment, specifically one where I was so supported by faculty and staff who always encouraged my curiosity and need to think outside the box.  This support, coupled with the knowledge and skills I gained in the classrooms and halls of IC, have been the foundation of success in my life. I learned to step up and be a leader, and most importantly, to take on new challenges head on. I'm very grateful to be an alumni of what I believe is the best environment for young girls to grow!"

New Leaders Join the Blue Wolf Pack
The ICHS Community is overjoyed with excitement to announce the hiring of Miss Kelly Koval, Dean of Academics and Dr. Sonaliz Morel-Baker, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement.

Since August 1, 2019, Miss Koval has been working diligently to provide effective feedback to faculty, become acquainted with the climate and culture of ICHS, build stronger faculty relationships, assist the Executive Leadership Team in all aspects and collaborate and contribute in internal professional learning communities. She has also been celebrating the AMAZING experiences taking place in the school and making it a point to share it with the public through social media outlets.

Dr. Morel-Baker has been familiarizing herself with the 2019-2024 Strategic Plan, collaborating with the Head of School, to finalize the Executive Summary of the 2019-2024 Strategic Plan, meeting with faculty and staff to learn more about the culture and history of ICHS. She is thrilled to develop a comprehensive advancement plan with goals, metrics, and benchmarks while building a program of special events that will provide social and community networking collaboration opportunities.

ICHS is blessed to welcome new "leaders" to their "Blue Wolf Pack"!

Did You Know?...
Time for Us Tuesdays
On September 12, 2019, ICHS kicked off its new Student Advisory Program.

" Time for Us Tuesdays' is a program that I wish I had when I was in high school," stated Jessica Cutrona, dean of student life.

According to Sister Marie Alexander Siegel, campus minister, "This program has endless possibilities and opportunities. Students and faculty will build stronger relationships and students will receive individualized attention and mentoring every Tuesday."

Kangela Guerrero '20 said, "I believe this program will be a healthy and positive experience. During our first session, I felt how much of an impact it will make on the current and future student body of ICHS."

"Be who you needed when you were younger" is the faculty motto and, noted Sister Alexander, "here at ICHS, our faculty are being just that and so much more."

The "Time for Us Tuesdays" program is in conjunction with the ICHS strategic plan.
