Counterfeits & Online Marketplaces - Hearing Recording Available

Our industry is very concerned about counterfeits and the safety of our consumers. Are online marketplaces doing enough to address the issue? A Congressional hearing, "Buyer Beware: Fake and Unsafe Products On Online Marketplaces", took place Wednesday, March 4 in Washington D.C. exploring this topic. New Statement on CBD from FDA Commissioner Hahn

FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn has issued a new statement to help clarify the Agency's current thinking and efforts about CBD. Public education about product risks and unknowns, closing data gaps, marketplace monitoring and evaluation continue to be priorities for FDA. These measures are aimed at working toward protecting the public and improving market clarity. Additionally, the public docket will be reopened for comment..

FDA To Hold ICCR-14 Prep Meeting

The FDA announced it will hold a Public Meeting on April 14, 2020 to solicit input on topics that may be relevant for further discussion at the upcoming ICCR-14 Meeting

Final Report on 2019 Asbestos in Talc Containing Cosmetics Testing

At the end of 2018, FDA contracted for 52 talc containing cosmetic product samples to be tested for the presence of asbestos fibers. Those testing results and a 2020 sample testing strategy are now available.

Proposed: Wipes Labeling Requirement

For those involved in the single-use wipes category, there is a bill to watch that is moving through the Washington State Legislature. The bill has passed the State Senate on 3/5. The bill would require a labeling change to disposable wipes packaging.
