Weekend with Dr Raymond Brock-Murray

AsSalam Alaikum, 

With the growth of our community we enjoy the multitude of abilities that we possess and are grateful. However with our growth and diversity we have our unique challenges. To address these issues, we look to the experts for their knowledge and experience. One of our immediate needs is the need for a professional counselor to tackle the issues that result from depression, anxiety and other mental health issues as well as individual, family and marriage counseling. 

We have invited Brother Dr Raymond Brock-Murray to visit our community and explore the idea of him moving to the Nashville area. May Allah reward him for his efforts and may He assist us in finding the most suitable candidate. 

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Raymond Brock-Murray earned his PhD in Counseling Psychology. He is the assistant imam at Masjid Ahlus Sunnah and co-founder of The Five Before Five Foundation, a mental health nonprofit for communities of color and faith. He also hosts mental health talk shows on the foundation’s websites www.thefivebeforefive.com and www.psychologyincolor.com

Message from AMAC

Many of you are looking for ways to help the over 300 incoming Afghan refugees coming to Middle TN. NICE (Nashville International Center for Empowerment) and Catholic Charities, the two resettlement agencies that will accept them, are expecting their first families to arrive as early as next week, but some families have already arrived in Middle TN outside those agencies. AMAC is collaborating with those agencies and working with Afghans, mosques and community members to make sure the refugees get the support they need. Please see below on how you can help.

Volunteer

The best way our community can support refugees is to identify how people can help. Please fill out this volunteer form if you are interested in helping out (donations, volunteer, employment opportunities, etc). Share with others willing to help. At this time, furniture and used household items and clothing should be donated directly to NICE (https://www.empowernashville.org/afghanistan/) or Catholic Charities (https://cctenn.org/donate-in-kind/)
