Exhibition “100 Years of Tufiño of the ICP”


The exhibition “100 Years of Tufiño del ICP” is being presented at the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture in Chicago, until August 31 of next year. “This is the first time since 1999 that an exhibition from the ICP National Collection is presented in its entirety abroad. This exhibition, which commemorates Tufiño's centenary, was originally presented last year at the Spanish Navy Arsenal in San Juan.


We are honored to present in Chicago a selection of works by Puerto Rican artist Rafael Tufiño. We invite all people who are in or plan to visit this city to join the celebration of the centenary of the birth of the renown painter. It is a great opportunity for the Puerto Rican community to learn about the work and contribution to the arts of this great master of Puerto Rican graphics,” said Carlos Ruiz Cortés, executive director of the ICP.

The Institute of Puerto Rican Culture (ICP) received the National Ceiba Award during the tenth edition of Raíces Gala in Chicago.


The award, granted by the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture (NMPRAC), was presented at the annual gala held by the entity at the Marchetti Gallery in the city of Chicago in the state of Illinois. The Puerto Rican star Ricky Martin and the family of the illustrious Puerto Rican artist Rafael Tufiño were also recognized with the same award.

On September 6, our Executive Director, Carlos Ruiz Cortés, led the panel: "Culture: Creating Experiences through Cultural Tourism", where he shared ideas with Lucía Nieves Cortés, Director of Folk Arts at the ICP, and other experts. The panel, "Museums: Their Contribution to Tourism through Preservation", was led by Jessabet Vivas Capó, Programmatic Advisor at the ICP, together with María del Mar Caragol, Director of Fine Arts at the ICP, and with the Executive Directors of the MAPR, MAC and the MAP.

Boricua Emprende Fest 2023

Our team was part of the fifth edition of the Boricua Emprende Fest 2023, held at the Puerto Rico Convention Center. This event brought together more than 1,200 entrepreneurs from various industries and business stages, as well as numerous business support entities.


In addition, the panel, "Capacity Building Experiences for the Creative Sector" led by Jessabet Vivas Capó, Programmatic Advisor of the ICP, together with Javier Hernández Acosta from Economía Creativa, Yari Helfeld from Y No Hay Luz and Naíma Irizel Rodríguez from Pública Espacio.

Press conference for the International Theater Festival

The Institute of Puerto Rican Culture (ICP) presented the theatrical productions that will premiere at the 53rd International Theater Festival. This edition will be held from September 30 to November 12 in different venues in Puerto Rico and will present works by international playwrights. This edition of the International Theater Festival will feature a series of events, workshops, panels and conversations that will be announced soon.

Puerto Rican Reading Marathon 2023

This literary marathon was organized by the National Library of Puerto Rico in collaboration with CELELI in conjunction with more than ten children's book authors.

Last September 19, we celebrated all the archaeologists in our agency and on the Island. Thank you for helping to preserve our legacy and cultural identity!

The master tour of the Muestra Legado exhibition was held, guided by the artist Dhara Rivera in collaboration with the director of the Fine Arts Program, María Del Mar Caragol, and the registrars Laura Quiñones and Carmen Torres.

The movie "LA PECERA" was presented in Vieques! The Germán Rieckehoff and Adrienne Serrano high schools participated, as well as members of the Center for the Aging and the staff of the Municipality of Vieques.

Workshop with professor Raquel Quijano from the Liga de Arte de San Juan where they explored the universe of graphics. Inspired by the exhibition "Voz Entre Tintas -Drawing and graphics around the works of René Marqués in the Community Education Division."
