HELLO FROM THE ICS LIBRARY!
I want to say thank you AGAIN for the amazing, generous, stupendous grant to the ICS Library! We just unboxed our first order of PTSA grant books and students! Many of these books were requested by students during the first weeks of school. To be able to have these student choice books available right away shows students they have a voice in our selection process!

Other Library News! Our first Battle of the Books information meeting is on Thursday, September 26 during Phoenix Time. Students need to sign up using a form in Teams, so please feel free to remind your interested Middle Schooler to fill out the form! To participate in Battle of the Books, students will need you to submit the parent permission form. This form is on our Battle of the Books webpage.
We will start our first book group for High School in October! Our HS book groups are low stress meetings where we talk about the book we chose, have some snacks, and make recommendations for future books. By student request we will have a mystery theme for our first group.

WHEN IS HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH IN 2024?
Hispanic Heritage Month is observed annually from September 15 to October 15. It is a time to appreciate and celebrate the colorful cultures, rich histories, and diversity of the American Latino community.
The observation of Hispanic Heritage Week started in 1968 under President Lyndon B. Johnson and was later extended to a 30-day celebration by President Ronald Reagan, starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law via approval of Public Law 100-402 on August 17, 1988.
The month is celebrated in a plethora of ways. As several other celebratory holidays fall during this month — such as the independence days of several Latin American countries — concerts, parades, food fairs, and more are organized throughout. Educational events like art exhibitions take place as well, highlighting important Latino heroes in history.
