In this season of gratitude, the team at ICSPS would like to thank you – our online visitors, participants, funders and friends for your engagement, attendance, and support. I have always championed the idea that coordination, collaboration and communication make the CTE system stronger – this year has embodied those principles. This year has been a challenge for everyone, and while we acknowledge the struggles, I invite you to also reflect on how much we have learned, responded, and supported one another through partnerships. As in every year, ICSPS has worked to provide quality, relevant professional learning opportunities throughout 2020. I am not sure what lies ahead, but the team at ICSPS is dedicated to providing the system with authentic, engaging, and dynamic professional development as we move forward. Thank you for all you do to make the system amazing and thank you for sharing a portion of your day with our team.
In Gratitude,
Aime'e Julian, PhD
Director, Illinois Center for Specialized Professional Support

Meet the ICSPS Team
Jennifer Phillips and Kiersten Baer
|
Jennifer Phillips
Jennifer Phillips joined the ICSPS team earlier this year as the Strategic Initiatives Coordinator. She assists, advises, and provides analysis to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunities Office of Employment and Training on initiatives such as work-based learning, apprenticeship, and accelerated credentials, including digital learning. She has 25 years of workforce development experience as a consultant and from when she worked for the Charles Stewart Mott and Joyce Foundations. She has lived in the Chicagoland area since 2000. Jennifer holds a master’s in Public Administration from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and is a married mom of three teenaged boys. Her active family enjoys paddle boarding on Lake Michigan, hiking, playing board games, and Legos. Jen appreciates how ICSPS positively impacts the Illinois workforce, especially during the pandemic. “The pandemic has been such an enormous challenge. By its very nature, it is disrupting workforce and education systems and forcing those systems to become even more agile and responsive to the needs of both workers/jobseekers and employers. I’m hopeful that workforce and education systems being better positioned to help fuel economic recovery becomes a silver lining from our COVID experience. The work I do at ICSPS and with our stakeholders is all about shining a spotlight on innovations and best practices to systematically improve economic mobility.”

Kiersten Baer
Kiersten Baer joined ICSPS as the Online Marketing Coordinator in March while completing her master’s degree in Communication at Illinois State University. Needless to say, Kiersten’s technical skills came to ICSPS just in time to help move in-person professional development events to online delivery in response to the pandemic. Aside from providing support for online professional development events, Kiersten is responsible for managing the ICSPS website and all social media marketing, coordinating technology for both in-person and online professional development events, and managing any ICSPS web-based projects. Kiersten, her husband Brock, and their 3 dogs (Oakley, Maui, and Kona) make their home in Decatur, Illinois – not far from her hometown of Forsyth. In her spare time, Kiersten is a voracious reader who enjoys biking and hiking with the dogs. When it comes to her approach to Marketing, Kiersten refers to a quote from the father of modern technology marketing, Regis McKenna who said “The best marketing is education.”
