Make a Donation to Disaster Relief Fund to Increase Impact

Since the beginning of 2024, ICUF has granted $26,500 to 53 credit union members impacted by weather disasters in our state.

Please consider donating to the ICUF Disaster Relief Fund to help ICUF support as many impacted Iowa credit union members as possible. Your donation can help credit union members who have lost their homes to flooding, tornadoes and other natural disasters.

Disaster Recovery Housing Assistance Program Activated

If your members’ homes have been severely impacted by natural disasters, a resource available to them may be the Iowa Disaster Recovery Housing Assistance Program. The program addresses unmet housing recovery needs outside the scope of insurance coverage or FEMA Individual Assistance. Eligible homeowners can receive up to $50,000 for the repair or rehabilitation of their disaster-impacted homes.

Eligible counties currently include Adair, Adams, Buena Vista, Cedar, Cherokee, Clarke, Clay, Emmet, Harrison, Jasper, Lyon, Mills, Montgomery, O’Brien, Plymouth, Polk, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby, Sioux, Story, Union and Woodbury. Additional counties could be added over time if approved by FEMA for federal disaster assistance.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance Now Available for 5 Northwest Iowa Counties

Disaster unemployment assistance is now available to eligible individuals as a result of a major disaster declaration signed by President Joe Biden on June 24. Iowa Workforce Development is now accepting applications for disaster unemployment assistance from individuals in Clay, Emmet, Lyon, Plymouth and Sioux Counties whose employment or self-employment was lost or interrupted due to severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and/or flooding stemming from weather that began on June 16.

Applications for this disaster unemployment assistance must be filed by August 23. Learn more about eligibility and application requirements here.
