2020 'People Helping People' Financial Coach Training Program a Success
The 2020 Iowa Credit Union Foundation 'People Helping People' Financial Coach Training Program wrapped up earlier this week, graduating 31 coaches from 16 credit unions across the state.

This year's event was held virtually, split into six half-day training sessions facilitated by ICUF board member Adam Carroll and ICUF Executive Director Jaimie Miller. Thanks to the support of generous donors, ICUF was able to subsidize the cost of this program to make it affordable for credit union participation.

Graduating financial coaches proudly represent these credit unions:
  • Advantage Credit Union
  • Capitol View Credit Union
  • Cedar Falls Community Credit Union
  • CENT Credit Union
  • Dupaco Community Credit Union
  • DuTrac Community Credit Union
  • Financial Plus Credit Union
  • Greater Iowa Credit Union
  • GreenState Credit Union
  • IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union
  • Peoples Credit Union
  • River Community Credit Union
  • Serve Credit Union
  • Sioux Valley Community Credit Union
  • Town & Country Credit Union
  • Unite Credit Union
Eight coaches from six credit unions received program scholarships to cover the cost of registration. These scholarships were made possible by the support of Iowa credit unions and supporting donors.
ICUF Partners With UNI to Bring Financial Literacy to High Schools
New law requires all Iowa high school students to complete financial literacy courses to graduate. While Iowa school districts have a wide range of options available for a financial literacy curriculum, there are few options in Iowa for the continuing education necessary for educators to teach this topic.

ICUF has pledged $50,000 to the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in support of continuing education programming for educators - advancing their knowledge to prepare them to teach financial literacy curriculum in Iowa high schools. ICUF's support of UNI's program directly aligns with our mission to empower people and communities to achieve financial well-being. Read the full press release here.
Encourage Member Participation in Census
Are you encouraging your members to participate in the 2020 census? You should be!

The census is the federal government's way to collect complete counts of communities before allocating federal funding. It's important that your community actively participates in the census so that you receive adequate funding for your local educational programs, roadways and social programs.
