ICUF Grants $50,000 to Eight Community Organizations as First Part of Three-Year Initiative

As part of a new three-year, $150,000 "Financial Inclusion Grant Program" addressing barriers to financial well-being for minority populations in Iowa, ICUF has announced the 8 organizations receiving the first $50,000 in grant funding.

ICUF Financial Inclusion Grants direct funding to organizations serving minority populations in the areas of: affordable housing, business ownership, childcare, education, employment, and health access and outcomes. The eight recipient organizations were nominated by credit unions for their service to minority communities in a variety of geographic regions in Iowa.


The first recipients of ICUF Financial Inclusion Grants include:

  • $10,000 to the Multicultural Development Center of Iowa in Iowa City, addressing business ownership 
  • $10,000 to athletics for Education and Success in Fort Dodge, addressing childcare and education 
  • $5,000 to 24/7 BLAC in Waterloo, addressing affordable housing and business ownership
  • $5,000 to The Academy for Scholastic and Personal Success in Cedar Rapids, addressing education and health access & outcomes 
  • $5,000 to the Four Mounds Foundation in Dubuque, addressing affordable housing, education, and employment 
  • $5,000 to One Economy Financial Development Corporation in Des Moines addressing business ownership
  • $5,000 to Knock & Drop Iowa in Des Moines, addressing health access & outcomes 
  • $5,000 to Boys & Girls Club of Siouxland in Sioux City, addressing childcare and education

Recognize a Credit Union Peer Through the Friend of the Foundation

Become a Friend of the Foundation by making a gift in honor of one or more credit union leaders. Honorees will be notified that a donation was made in their honor, and they will receive special recognition during the Iowa Credit Union Convention September 18-20 in Des Moines.

Each donation through the Friends of the Foundation campaign supports ICUF’s mission-in-action. Please consider a minimum $10 donation for each credit union friend or leader you would like to honor.

Iowans are Benefiting from Disaster Recovery Housing Assistance Program  

Governor Reynolds today announced that conditional awards are beginning to be approved for disaster impacted Iowa homeowners through the state-funded Disaster Recovery Housing Assistance Program (DRHAP). The awards will allow homeowners to begin rebuilding or be reimbursed for eligible expenses. If you have members who have experienced home damage due to recent natural disasters, encourage them to explore this financial aid opportunity.
