Conference Wrap Up

Greetings from the IDA-Northern New England Alliance!

Our annual conference gave over 100 educators and stakeholders a unique opportunity to look at the important work of MTSS from different angles. Throughout the day, attendees learned about administrative practices, scheduling patterns, tier one interventions, testing and assessment patterns, and curricular resources that support structured literacy and enable every student in a classroom, school or district to be given the opportunity to become a skilled reader.

Our round table of representatives from the NH, ME and VT departments of education, and our lunch and learn sessions with our sponsors, Amplify and Zaner Bloser, gave attendees specific curricula and initiatives with which to engage.

I am greatly enjoying meeting our members, and hope to see you on zoom one of these days. I’ll sign off by saying I’m so grateful to be a part of this incredibly hard-working, big-hearted board, where each member is continually contributing to education, professional development, and legislative action in support of structured literacy.

Until Everyone Can Read,

Jesse Lowe

As a parent it can be confusing understanding the reading support your child is receiving at school. The most important thing you can do is ask the teacher questions. New Hampshire’s Parent Information Center has created a list of questions to help you ask the questions to understand your child’s reading instruction: https://picnh.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/10-Questions-Reading.pdf
