IDHA's Bill (HB2267) passed the Illinois House of Representatives 112 to zero! Now we must convince Illinois Senators to Support and Co-Sponsor our bill! IDHA's bill corrects errors and updates the Illinois Dental Practice Act. It will improve dental care services for Illinois residents. To read HB2267, click HERE

Please call your Illinois "State Senator" (Not "United States Senator") ASAP and ask them to Co-Sponsor HB2267! The more RDHs that ask their senator to support the bill, the more likely it is to pass.

* Starting January 2023, Dental Assistants (DAs) must have a 32-hour Coronal Scaling certificate to perform coronal scaling on children.

* DAs with a 16-hour Scaling Certificate were NOT "grandfathered in" and may NOT continue providing coronal scaling.

* If you see a DA scaling, inform your dentist this is illegal and DAs are no longer certified to scale.

* If the dentist continues to delegate illegal DA services, document the circumstances and report the dentist to the Board of Dentistry.
