IDRA Rolls-Out New Community Action Data Dashboards
Tools for Decision Making
Education and community leaders and policymakers need key information to make good decisions about school policy and practice. They need to listen to the voices of those who are impacted by those decisions and they need clear, quality data.

IDRA’s Community Action Data Dashboards provide a new level of high quality, accessible data to see how their schools are doing and plan ways to improve them.

This month, IDRA launched two new dashboards: One on school discipline by U.S. states and one on Texas school finance.
National School Discipline Dashboards
Pushing students out of the classroom results in missed learning time and an increased likelihood of justice system involvement. Punitive discipline practices also compromise student success and campus safety.

IDRA's School Discipline Dashboards feature the following.
  • School-Related Arrest Rates
  • Expulsion Rates
  • In-School Suspension Rates
  • Out-of-School Suspension Rates

Each dashboard provides the data by race-ethnicity and sex nationally, by state and in the U.S. South (Alabama, Arkansas, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia).

Texas School Finance Dashboards
The system for funding Texas schools is complex. IDRA works to make school funding information accessible to communities and relevant to state policymakers.

IDRA is available to provide school finance data analysis at the state or district-level to help communities and lawmakers understand how different policy proposals will impact their districts.

IDRA's Texas School Finance Dashboards feature the following.

  • The State versus Local Share Dashboard, which compares the portion of state versus local funding to school districts.

  • The Texas Bilingual Education Funding Dashboard, which shows the amount of bilingual education dollars from the state, including the new dual language allotment, going to school districts.

  • The Texas Special Education Funding Dashboard, which shows special education funding from the state for each Texas school district.
