Active Reconfigurable Surfaces Utilizing Reflection Amplifiers
|
The design for an active RIS based on phase-reconfigurable reflection amplifiers is proposed. The proposed active RIS elements’ design consists of a two-layer patch antenna and a phase-reconfigurable reflection amplifier that is realized by a cascade of a phase shifter and a reflection amplifier.

An Isolated Waveguide Divider for W-Band Power Combined Amplifier
|
A compact isolated E-plane waveguide T-junction divider is proposed for power combination using solid-state amplifiers in W-band. The passive isolation between the output ports exceeds 15 dB, with an average loss of 0.2 dB from 77.5 to 97 GHz. By using two 3W GaN power amplifiers between back-to-back dividers, the module produces a maximum power output of 6.2W between 81 and 86 GHz, with a 90.6% average combination efficiency.

MMIC-to-Dielectric Waveguide Transitions
|
An EM coupled transition and a galvanically coupled transition in glass technology are presented. This enables efficient coupling of signals above 150 GHz into a dielectric waveguide (DWG). A minimum insertion loss of 2.62 dB within a large 1-dB bandwidth of 18 GHz at 166 GHz is demonstrated.

Substrate-Integrated Waveguide Filtering Crossover Based on 3-D Assembly
|
A new approach for substrate-integrated waveguide filtering crossover is proposed based on 3-D assembly. H-plane and E-plane resonant printed circuit boards with orthogonal degenerate modes are fully exploited and assembled like building blocks, to conceive novel filtering crossovers. They boast effective reduction of the footprint, flexible spatial arrangement, energy cross-transmission, and inter-channel isolation at different heights. A K-band prototype is designed, fabricated, and measured to validate the proposal.

IEEE JC&S, Seefeld (Tirol), Austria | Mar 5-7, 2023
The integration of communication and radio sensing in the same spectrum is likely to be one of the key features in B5G wireless systems. A joint design of both services will improve the efficiency of spectrum usage, and will offer the opportunity of providing radar as a service, just like communications today. This hybrid event will be held in Seefeld (Tirol), Austria. All sessions will be streamed online for remote attendees and recordings will be available after.
