Single-Pixel Scanning Near-Field Imaging Using Sharp Focusing Mikaelian Lens
|
An all-dielectric surface focusing Mikaelian lens operating at the X -and Ka-band for the single-pixel scanning microwave and millimeter-wave imaging is presented. The lens prototype with perforation and infill structure is 3-D printed. Results demonstrate that the lens prototype exhibits excellent imaging performance with a subwavelength resolution.

CMOS SoC Spectrometer Processors for Spaceborne Microwave-to-THz Earth & Planetary Science and Radioastronomy
|
This article presents development of CMOS system-on-chip spectrometer processor for Spaceborne Earth Science, Planetary Science and Astronomy. The chip is intended for use in rotational emission spectroscopy observations from microwave to sub-millimeter wavelengths performed from Earth orbiting or deep space exploration spacecraft. The spectrometer processor operates up to 12.8 GS/s to provide up to 6.4 GHz of processing bandwidth with a frequency resolution of 8192 spectral channels and 4-bit analog resolution.

MMIC IQ Mixer Covers LO/RF from 18 to 65 GHz
|
Mini-Circuits’ new SMIQ-653H-D+ MMIC IQ mixer die provides an RF and LO frequency range from 18 to 65 GHz and an IF bandwidth from DC to 20 GHz. This model is usable as a single-sideband upconverter in transmit applications and an image-reject mixer in receiver applications in the mmWave range.

A 140-22 GHz LNA with 6 dB Min. NF and 80 GHz BW in 130 nm SiGe BiCMOS
|
This letter presents an ultra-broadband low-noise amplifier (LNA) with a 3-dB bandwidth of 80 GHz, covering 140–220 GHz. Broadband gain and noise performance are obtained through optimal bias selection, dc coupling, and stagger tuning. Y -factor noise figure (NF) measurement results are presented. A NF of 6.9, 6.1, and 8.2 dB is measured at 150, 180, and 210 GHz. Implemented in IHP 130-nm SiGe BiCMOS process, the LNA has a peak gain of 15.5 dB, while consuming 46-mW dc power.

Portable EM Device for Steatotic Liver Detection Using Blind Source Separation and Shannon Wavelet Entropy
|
This study proposes an EM technique to assist in observation and detection of hepatic steatosis (HS) by measuring EM signals from the right side of the torso where liver is located. The combination of blind source separation and wavelet transform techniques is used for detection. Healthy livers can be differentiated from the steatotic ones based on their higher level of wavelet entropy.

A Transmission Line Approach for Rough Conductor Surface Impedance Analysis
|
A transmission line approach is used to determine the surface impedance of conductors with rough surfaces. Based on the gradient model, the roughness is represented by a gradual transition of the intrinsic impedance. Discretization and successive impedance transformations then directly yield the surface impedance. The field diffusion is fully characterized by a single dimensionless ratio, which enables a comprehensive analysis of the surface impedance regarding its dependency on frequency, conductivity, and roughness.

A IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques (T-MTT) nomeou a Prof. Almudena Suárez como a nova Editora-Chefe.
Prof. Suárez é Professora Catedrática na Universidade de Cantabria, em Espanha. É Fellow do IEEE e foi IEEE Distinguished Microwave Lecturer durante o período de 2006-2008. Publicou mais de 100 artigos de revista e deu inúmeras palestras convidades em conferências internacionais.
