St. Bernardine Becomes Fourth ED Bridge Program in the Inland Empire
|
|
In August, 22 additional hospitals joined the
California Bridge Program
,
extending its reach to
52 hospitals, serving 34 California counties. St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino is one of the new participating hospitals, becoming the fourth ED Bridge Program in the Inland Empire. The CA Bridge Program promotes medication-assisted treatment (MAT) in emergency rooms and hospitals.
St. Bernardine Medical Center
treats over 70,500 patients in their Emergency Department each year. St. Bernardine is a member of Dignity Health. The IEOCC extends a warm welcome to the St. Bernardine Medical Center as the most recent hospital to join the CA Bridge Program in the Inland Empire.

feature about his substance abuse recovery and the valuable, life-changing treatment he recently received through Arrowhead Regional Medical Center's (ARMC) ED Bridge Program. The interview aired multiple times during the last week in August.

Two-Day Event: Riverside County Care Transitions
|
|
Health Management Associates is presenting a free two-day event, ‘Building Sustainable Transitions of Care for People with an Opioid Use Disorder’, on September 11 and 12 in Moreno Valley, California. This event is targeted to all entities in Riverside County who interact with, treat, house or help those with addictive disorders. Goal-setting, the development of value stream maps, and identifying barriers, gaps, and technical assistance needs will be covered. Eligible organizations can receive ongoing support until September 2020. All events are fully funded and paid for by HMA’s grant from DHCS. Find out more information and how to register

Drugmaker Ordered to Provide Free Naloxone to First Responders
|
|
The California State Board of Pharmacy reached a settlement with the McKesson Corporation that will enforce the company to provide $1.5 million worth of free naloxone, an opioid overdose-reversing medication, to California first responders. The drugmaker has been reprimanded for failing to report suspicious orders of often abused opioid painkillers in connection with prior violations. Read the full story

Resource: New Community Education Campaign on Opioid Risks
|
|
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) launched a new public educational campaign, ‘Your Pain is Real. So are the Risks’. The campaign seeks to increase awareness about the dangers of prescription opioid medications, and to encourage consumers to speak with providers about safer pain management options. Vision:
To reduce opioid use and opioid related deaths in the Inland Empire.
Mission:
The Inland Empire Opioid Crisis Coalition (IEOCC) creates effective community collaborations between member organizations and individuals who need help with pain management and addictive disorders. The coalition employs the values and techniques of harm reduction and integrated care.
IEOCC will ensure the following changes occur in their communities:
- Education and engagement with service providers and community members.
- Safer prescribing practices for opioid medications.
- Increased use of medication-assisted addiction treatment (MAT), as part of a comprehensive system of integrated behavioral health care.
- Increased availability and use of the overdose reversal drug Naloxone.
