On January 16, 2023, The Henry Ford Museum welcomed the InterFaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit to host “Lift Every Voice” in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr Day. The event consisted of interactive workshops and activities for all ages with a focus of building belonging across differences in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's vision of a "beloved community".
We were honored to welcome our friends of all ages and excited to see the space full and alive throughout the day, with 300+ children completing hands-on activities that included a craft and a treasure hunt within the museum. Teen and adult visitors used their voices to tell us what belonging looks like to them. We loved the chance to hear and learn from our community in this journey of building belonging!
What was this event? Bridging to Belonging, a program of the Interfaith Leadership Council of metro Detroit, provided learning and practice of building the foundation of that community through workshops on “Putting It Into Practice”, “What Science Tells Us About Belonging”, sharing feelings of being heard, valued and loved, and including an interactive craft allowing children to lift the voices in their lives.
