Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!

This is an opportunity for any US or Canadian college student to participate in a Blizzard Art contest in the categories of Animation, Character, Environment, and FX.
The purpose of this contest is to:
- Identify emerging collegiate talent at a point in their development where our input will help guide and shape them into prospective professional artists.
-
Increase awareness of our artistic culture on the WoW team amongst college-level talent and help to minimize the intimidation associated with applying to Blizzard.
Not to mention the cool prizes that winners receive like a mentorship session from a member of the WoW Art team, a one-year WoW subscription, and more! You can follow this link and share with your students for information on this year’s contest: LINK.

To our friends in video game academia,
Hello! I'm Sam Warnke, Conference Producer for GDC. It’s time to kick off the GDC's Game Narrative Review exercise once again! The Game Narrative Review program is designed to facilitate student learning about the narrative components of games while rewarding students with the opportunity to win free passes to Game Developers Conference (GDC). This is a great chance for your students to exercise their analytical and creative writing skills when it comes to games; going to GDC would give them a chance to interact with professionals in the industry, an invaluable opportunity.
Over the years, we've found students gain the most from this program when instructors incorporate the exercise into an appropriate semester class as a mandatory or optional assignment. Alternately, students can participate individually, following the submission guidelines included in the 3 documents attached:
- An FAQ on the Game Narrative Review program (including when, how, and why to submit)
- A template for Game Narrative Review submissions
- A sample of a completed Game Narrative Review
Additional information on the program can be found in the attached FAQ. Also attached is a sample of a completed Game Narrative Review, as well as the template for your students' reviews.
Completed Game Narrative Reviews are due by Friday, December 1, 2023. Students advancing to the next round will be notified late January 2023, with instructions for submitting posters prior to GDC. GDC will be held on March 18-22, 2024, taking place in-person at Moscone Center in San Francisco.
Please let us know if you have any questions and, as always, we welcome your suggestions.
All the best,
Sam Warnke (she/her)
