Announcement of Candidates for IGS Council: Term 2020 to 2024

The IGS, in accordance with its bylaws, will hold mid-term elections in 2020. IGS Members will have the opportunity to elect seven Council Members. Each of the elected members will serve a four-year term, beginning on 5 September 2020. READ MORE
IGS Launches New Publication – Chapter Chat

Stay up-to-date with all the latest news from the IGS’s worldwide chapters with the launch of  Chapter Chat , a new quarterly round-up of news and views. Our chapters are the lifeblood of the IGS. This thriving network of collaborative members helps to spread the word about geosynthetics across continents. Chapter Chat gathers recent events, activities and initiatives from the society’s 47 chapters that help the IGS thrive internationally. READ MORE
Sustainability Focus At EuroGeo 7

Sustainability will be the subject of a special session organized by IGS officers at the largest geosynthetics conference in Europe. Geosynthetics’ place in the circular economy will be discussed at the final afternoon session on September 6, during the four-day EuroGeo 7 event in Poland. IGS Vice President Dr Nathalie Touze and a participating panellist will explore how best to create a ‘make – use – return’ loop for geosynthetics’ use, balancing the need for efficient use of resources with that of reducing plastic waste. Speaker Line-Up Announced for UK Chapter Symposium

An impressive array of industry experts and international speakers will inspire and inform delegates at the IGS UK Chapter’s 6th symposium on May 12 and 13 this year. Organizers have secured the IGS’s Richard Brachman and George Koerner as keynote speakers on the first day, while industry experts Steve Wilson, Peter Atchison and Steven Odunmbaku will deliver keynotes on day two. There will also be a special introduction from Pete Bradshaw, Head of Sustainability at Manchester City Football Club. READ MORE
Development of Geosynthetics Practice in Egypt

The Egyptian Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGSE) hosted a workshop on the “Development of Geosynthetics Practice in Egypt.” The workshop was held on 28th & 29th of January 2020 at the Housing and Building Research Center, Dokki, Giza, Egypt. The workshop presented a multitude of opportunities for the Geosynthetics society (including consultants, contractors, and material and equipment manufacturers, as well as academics, and researchers). If you haven’t already, don’t forget to renew your IGS membership for 2020! Invoices for Individual and Corporate Membership were sent out earlier this month. Individual-in-Chapter memberships are handled through IGS national chapters. Chapters: Don't forget to submit your 2019 Chapter Report!

Chapter Leaders – Don’t forget that your chapter is required to submit your Annual Chapter Report. The deadline for Chapter Reports was Friday, March 20th ! The principal objective is to collect and disseminate information about the status, activities, and needs of IGS Chapters. This information is then summarized to the IGS Council to provide an overview of the Chapters and is also utilized in the form of individual Chapter data.  READ MORE
