10 Questions With...Ian D. Peggs

Materials scientist Dr Ian D. Peggs has been involved with geosynthetics for more than 40 years. His company I-CORP has been an IGS Corporate Member since 2006. In 1994 he received the IGS Special Recognition Award for his work on the influence of polymer microstructure on the performance of geomembranes. He was awarded IGS Honorary Membership in 2018. Dr Peggs has now decided to take a step back from corporate life, closing I-CORP to pursue a life of active retirement. We spoke to the “loose cannon” about his career. READ MORE
Geomembranes In The Spotlight At ACigs Events

The Australasian Chapter of the IGS (ACigs) brought the latest thinking on geomembranes to the fore at its first event of 2020. Two Australian cities hosted ACigs’ Geomembrane Workshop Series, on March 16 and 17 in Melbourne, and March 19 and 20 in Brisbane. They were held at the cities’ respective Engineers Australia office locations and met health guidelines at the time before the COVID-19 lockdowns were enforced around the world. READ MORE

UK Chapter Symposium Postponed

The UK Chapter’s two-day conference exploring geosynthetics in Containment Engineering and Brownfield Remediation has been moved to next year. The disruption caused by the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic prevents organizers going ahead with the event at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, on May 12 and 13. READ MORE
IGS Peru Postpones GeoIngenieria 2020

A unique three-day conference in Lima this August has been rescheduled because of the COVID-19 disruption. Health and safety concerns have led to the postponement of the inaugural GeoIngenieria 2020, from August 24-26, this year, to July 12-14 2021. READ MORE
