April was another successful month that got started with IHLA hosting our GM Breakfast Meeting on April 4th at the Hilton Chicago/Magnificent Mile Suites. Thanks to Patrick Filatre for hosting the event. State Senator Kwame Raoul and Cook County Commissioner Jeffrey Tobolski spoke to our hotel members on several issues at the State and Cook County levels that affect our industry. Both of our keynote speakers answered questions from the group on a wide range of topics.
On April 28th, IHLA along with Choose Chicago, Illinois Restaurant Association, and The Magnificent Mile Association, co-hosted the first Central Business District Hiring event with the
Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership called Hospitality Hires Chicago. The event attracted over 50 hospitality companies from various sectors of the tourism industry including 25 hotels and hotel companies. These companies interviewed hundreds of job seekers pre-screened by the Chicago Workforce Partnership. Overall, the event was very successful and the industry looks to host other hiring events in the future.
On May 17-18, AHLA will be hosting its annual Legislative Action Summit (LAS) in Washington, D.C. Please join IHLA's large contingency of members in hearing several keynote speakers and then educating our two Illinois Senators and several members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation on key issues affecting our industry at the federal level.
