Welcome back to a brand-new school year! I pray that your summer months were filled with rest, renewal, and moments of joy with your loved ones. Whether you traveled far, enjoyed quiet days at home, or spent time in service to others, I hope you return refreshed and ready to embrace the blessings and challenges that lie ahead.
As we gather once again within the walls of our beloved Catholic schools, whether as a PREP teacher or classroom teacher, we are reminded that our work is not just a profession — it is a vocation. We are called to be more than educators; we are called to be witnesses of Christ’s love, instruments of His peace, and bearers of His truth. This year, our guiding theme comes from the Gospel of Luke:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me…
to bring good news to the poor.”
Luke 4:18
These words are both a mission and a promise. They remind us that the Holy Spirit equips us for the work we are called to do. In our classrooms, we will not only teach academic subjects but also nurture faith, inspire hope, and cultivate compassion. Every lesson, every conversation, and every act of kindness is an opportunity to bring the “good news” to those entrusted to our care — especially the most vulnerable, the struggling, and the overlooked.
Our students will look to us not only for knowledge but for the living example of Christ’s love in action. They will learn from the way we greet them each morning, the patience we show in moments of difficulty, and the joy we bring to our shared community. Let us remember that our influence extends far beyond the curriculum; it shapes hearts, strengthens faith, and builds the foundation for a lifetime of discipleship.
Our Church is deeply grateful for your dedication, your faith, and your unwavering commitment to Catholic education. You are the heart of our school community, and your work changes lives in ways that only eternity will fully reveal.
May the Holy Spirit guide our steps, strengthen our hearts, and inspire our work throughout this year. May we be renewed daily in our mission, confident that the Spirit of the Lord truly is upon us, empowering us to bring His good news to all.
