From the Assistant Principal's Desk

Hello IHM Families!

IHM school has been as busy as usual. We enjoyed meeting with all of you during parent/teacher conferences. The students always win when we are all working together. We would also like to send a special thank you to all who helped provide delicious dinners and lunch while we worked through some long days. Along with conferences, we are also very busy getting the paperwork in order for our MANS Accreditation team visit in two weeks. This is an important review process that every non-public school undergoes every five years to ensure we are delivering a quality education. We already know what a blessed place IHM is, so we are happy to share our school with others.

I would also like to write about a topic that is very important in relation to our children; technology. We are vigilant here at school to make sure that all of our students are safe and only use technology to enhance their education when appropriate. I would like to remind you of an opportunity for parents. We first introduced this opportunity a couple of years ago called "Wait Until 8th." This is a pledge campaign that encourages parents to delay giving their children a smartphone until at least the end of 8th grade. The idea behind the pledge is that if the majority of parents in one grade all make the pledge, the child can't try to tell you that "all the other kids" have a phone. There is great power in numbers. If you missed it, I am attaching a link to the website with all the information. When a grade gets 10 people to take the pledge, the "Wait Until 8th" organization will link the families with weekly updates. Even if you are not interested in taking the pledge, we recommend looking over the fascinating information on this PARENT PRESENTATION. We all need to continue to educate ourselves about smartphones and all the power they hold.

Thank you for all you do to make IHM such a great place to work!

Pax Christi,

Mrs. Anne Brown
