Disciple Dispatch

September 12, 2025

On Wednesday, the whole school gathered as Fr. Troy blessed our new Technology Lab dedicated to St. Carlo Acutis. Known for his devotion to the Eucharist and his use of digital media to promote Catholic devotion, he has been referred to as the "patron saint of the internet", "God's Influencer" and "the first millennial saint".

Picture Day Was a Success!

Students who had their pictures taken today were given a card with a QR code and a web code for you to view their proofs. They will be available within 7 business days or less. The forms are student-specific. View and place your order(s) or plan a retake on October 9.

Note: Yearbooks will not be included in picture packages this year - they will be a seperate cost. All children will have their picture in the yearbook regardless of picture purchases.

No Drop-off Before 7:40 am

Please do NOT drop your student(s) off before the doors open at 7:40 am. There is no adult supervision before then and children waiting alone outside the doors is a saftey concern.

Book Study Summary Notes

In May and June, we ran a book study on The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. Jill Wierzbicki, John MacKenzie II, Deacon David Bevins, Holly Lake and Anne Brown were our facilitators. We had great discussions with the people that participated. If you have not read this book yet, we highly recommend it. Read it and make yourself aware of how today’s society is rewiring our children’s brains. On this link you will find a summary of each of the chapters we discussed. News From IHM Athletics

  • Registration for Winter I sports is now open and will close on September 30th. CLICK HERE to get signed up. Students may only participate in one sport per season.

  • We are in need of volunteers for home volleyball games. There are many roles to fill in order for us to host these games. This is what helps us keep our program participation FREE for all athletes.

A Note from IHM Athletic Association

Hi Vikings!

I'm Mike Tietema, longtime member of the IHM Athletic Association Board. My kids have loved their IHM sports experience, and I know many of you feel the same.

The board supports our athletic programs alongside our awesome Athletic Director, Amy Taylor. As we transition to the "Catholic United" model, IHM still needs to contribute through GRACEAC—so we need your help!

We’re looking for volunteers to help raise the $35,000+ needed each year to pay the fees for your athletes to participate in sports. Come to the meeting to learn how you can get involved—time commitment is manageable, and many systems are already in place.

We will meet on Thursday, September 18th at 8:15pm at IHM in the gym. The meeting should last about 30 minutes. If you can't make it in person, you can join us on Zoom by clicking this link.

Thanks to all who’ve supported IHM Athletics—we’re excited for what’s ahead!

Mary, Queen of Victory, pray for us!

Go Vikings,

Mike Tietema

New Staff Spotlight

IHM has a few new faces walking it's halls this year. Meet Mrs. Lori Reidt. She is an active IHM parishinor and has over 30 years experience teaching special education, media & library, and art. She enjoys quilting, working in her garden, spending time with her dog and taking vacations with family. We are very excited to have her part of the IHM family as our new Librarian.

Help Wanted!

IHM is hosting the upcoming event on September 17th at Cathedral Square (see below). The event is offering childcare to parents at CC campus. They are in search of at least two Virtus trained adults to chaperone the high schoolers and kids. If you are able to help, please contact Joel Arends at joelarends1@gmail.com

Host our Blessed Mother

The Spiritual Growth Committee invites you to host our school's statue of Our Lady and patron for a week in your home. Our school children love to have Blessed Mother Mary visit their families and we are delighted to offer this opportunity to all IHM school families for the 2025-2026 school year! Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!

Caring for Mary

The Spiritual Growth Committee invites all IHM school families to help 'Care for Mary.' Each week, we have an opportunity to bring fresh flowers to place at the foot of the Blessed Mother Statue in the hall by the entrance of the school. Use this Sign-Up to reserve your family's week!

Please bring your flowers Monday morning and leave them through week's end. You may bring your own vase or bring your flowers to the office to use a school vase.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration of this opportunity to honor Our Lady and patron!

From the Principal's Desk

Hello IHM Families!

We are finishing up our first full week of school and it was a great one! All the fall sports are in full swing and I want to take a minute to thank our wonderful Athletic Director, Amy Taylor (Coach). It's been great to have an AD who is in the building most days and she has been great with communication from my perspective as a parent and an administrator. I'd like to thank all the coaches for each of the fall sports as well! All of you parents are spending countless hours helping our young athletes learn so much more than a sport. We really appreciate you! Remember to say thank you this season to your child's coach for all they do for all of our kids!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Blessings,

Mrs. Holly Lake
