"A Christmas without light is not Christmas. Let there be light in the soul, in the heart; let there be forgiveness to others; let there be no hostilities, which are dark. Let there be the beautiful light of Jesus."
— Pope Francis
| | Christmas is a sacred celebration of God’s love, manifested in the birth of Jesus Christ. In the humble manger at Bethlehem, heaven touched earth, and the promise of salvation was fulfilled. As we rejoice in this holy season, we are reminded that Christ is the true light who brings hope, peace, and eternal life to all who believe. Wishing you and your family a blessed and joyful holiday season! | | |

Jesus is awaiting love and action from each, every person
During Advent, we await the arrival of Jesus – His arrival on earth and His arrival at the Second Coming. This Advent, there are people who are waiting our arrival, too.
One Christmas, my pastor asked everyone to call the one person they haven’t been speaking to. He said, “And don’t tell me you don’t have anyone – I know you all do! Just call them and wish them a Merry Christmas. If they start yelling about what you two are fighting about, simply say, ‘I don’t want to get into that today. I am just calling to wish you a Merry Christmas.’ Then say ‘God bless you,’ and hang up the phone.”
That really gave me pause because there was one friend I hadn’t spoken to in months. I could have pretended that nothing was wrong, but something was, and we both knew it. At my pastor’s urging, I took a deep breath and called her. When I wished her a Merry Christmas, she said, “I’ve been thinking about you all day! I wanted to call you, but I know we haven’t really been talking so I was afraid.”
She was afraid of me?
That Christmas, I learned something. People might care about my presence and miss my absence more than I thought – and it is important to be courageous enough to take the first step.

When it comes to giving, generosity should never put you at risk. Scammers often take advantage of goodwill, especially during crises or holidays, so it’s important to pause and make sure your donation is going to the right place. By following a few simple precautions, you can protect yourself while ensuring your support truly reaches the people and causes you care about:
1. Research the Organization
- Look up the charity’s official website.
- Check if the organization is registered as a nonprofit (e.g., 501(c)(3) in the U.S.).
2. Use Secure Payment Methods
- Use a preferred credit card or trusted online platform (i.e. PayPal, official donation portals).
- Avoid sending cash, wiring money, or using gift cards.
- Never share sensitive personal information beyond what’s required.
3. Watch for Red Flags
- Pressure tactics (“donate now or lose your chance”).
- Vague mission statements or lack of transparency about how funds are used.
- Suspicious links or emails that don’t match the charity’s domain.
4. Confirm Tax-Deductibility
- If you want a tax deduction, ensure the organization qualifies.
- Keep receipts and confirmation emails for your records.
5. Protect Your Data
- Donate only through secure websites (look for https:// and a padlock icon).
- Avoid clicking donation links in unsolicited emails or social media posts.
- Consider setting up recurring donations only with trusted organizations.
6. Stay Alert to Scams
- Fake charities often appear after disasters or holidays.
- Cross-check names carefully (scammers may use lookalike names).
- Report suspicious solicitations to consumer protection agencies.
