APRIL

IHM Patron: Mary, Mother of the Church
IHM Virtue: The Love of God
Scripture: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul,
with all your mind, and with all your strength" (Mark 12:30).

HE IS RISEN, ALLELUIA!

ON THE FIRST EASTER

Out of the pearly mists
that shrouded the firmament
Earth felt a mighty tremor
saw a blinding flash
and caught in a grip of wonder
like the pangs of birthing
shuddered from pole to pole.
Then like the gentle rains
of early spring,
Calm and Peace and Joy
filtered like dew in the burnished rays
of the golden sun.
With a mighty jolt
the stone rolled back.
From the ominous opening of the dark dim cave
the son of Man who was the son of God
glided forth
into the dawn's bright splendor
bearing in outstretched arms
to the Children of Men
the gifts of hope and redemption.

CHAPTER 2023 -- A SACRED TIME
(l-r)Sr. Marita Shaun Mulhall, Sr. Catherine Masino, and Sr. Emily Faubian show signs of "relief" from often intense moments of listening and discussion.

A Chapter is a sacred time in any religious congregation. The IHM Congregation is currently involved in such a chapter that will decide matters of major importance and, while safeguarding the sound traditions of the Congregation, plan for new direction in answer to continually recurring challenges. Finally, in late June, the delegates to the Chapter of 2023 will elect members to the General Administration who will "administer" the IHM Congregation for the next five years. Please join us in prayer as we continue to reflect and listen carefully to where and to what the Spirit is leading us.
SIPPIN' FOR THE SISTERS
You took "the Tea" to new heights this year --

more of you raised a tea cup this year, and because of your generosity, we were able to send Camilla Hall $14,000 for the purchase of new hospital beds.

We are grateful to all who organized, sponsored, volunteered, entertained, and most especially to those who came to sip a cup of tea. God bless everyone!
A NEW WORK OF MERCY
Seven Goals of Laudato Si'

1. Cry of the Earth
2. Cry of the Poor
3. Ecological Economics
4. Adoption of Simple Lifestyles
5.Ecological Education
6. Ecological Spirituality
7. Community Engagement and Participatory Action

Did you know that Pope Francis added care for our common home as a work of mercy?

"May the works of mercy also include care for our common home," he said, explaining that as a spiritual work of mercy, care for creation "calls for a grateful contemplation of God's world which allows us to discover in each thing a teaching which God wishes to hand on to us."
As a corporal work of mercy, he said, it "requires simple daily gestures which break with the logic of violence, exploitation and selfishness and makes itself felt in every action that seeks to build a better world."
