Easter Matins

Say your prayers in a garden early --
Sing to the Lord as the morning dew
Glistens on the grass and pearly petals,
Sing as the glorious sun breaks through.
The glorious sun breaks through the mist
Touching the world with a stain of gold
While the singing spheres and the
caroling birds
Echo angelic songs of old:
He is risen! Alleluia.

When I take a moment to really think about the fact that I am a religious sister, I am struck by a sense of wonder. How did a cradle Catholic born in the early 1980s in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., who had a dream wedding planned by the age of 8, become an Immaculate Heart of Mary sister? Sixth Goal of the Laudato Si Action Platform
Ecological Spirituality

Take a slow contemplative walk in your city, neighborhood, in a garden, in the countryside, on a beach, or in a cemetery.

  • GAZE reflectively on the sunrise or the sunset. See the moon rise, smell the flowers and the grass, hug a tree, plant some seeds, look for new growth, gather the weeds, listen for bird or animal sounds, follow the clouds, feel the sunshine, the rain, the snow. Drink it all in!
  • DRAW or watercolor what you see. Take some pictures with cellphone to view later.
  • PRAISE the Creator along the way and give thanks for the gifts you have visited.
Choose one or both of these short clips for quiet reflection.

Seven Goals of Laudato Si
1. Cry of the Earth; 2. Cry of the Poor; 3. Ecological Economics 4. Adoption of Simple Lifestyles
