NEW CHANGES IN MISSION ADVANCEMENT

"Behold, I am doing a new thing;

now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?"

— Isaiah 43:19

Dear Friends,

Change is never easy — and yet, it is often through change that God calls us to something deeper, something more faithful, and something beautifully new. Our IHM history illustrates that our sisters have always believed that change, when embraced with faith and purpose, becomes a sacred opportunity.

This past year, we have been intentional in embracing the transformation within our community and in the lives of those we serve — and you have been part of it. Because of your generosity, our sisters and our lay colleagues continue to educate, accompany, and empower individuals across generations and geographies. You have helped us adapt our ministries, care for our aging sisters, and expand our outreach in response to today’s urgent needs.

At the heart of this movement is Sister Jeannine Norton, IHM, our dedicated Director of Mission Advancement. Sister finds herself once again personally embracing change by moving to her new mission, St. James in Savannah, Georgia. We are grateful for Sister Jeannine’s leadership that shepherded the Congregation through this time of grace-filled change and transformation. Sister Jeannine brought more than experience to her role — she brought heart, vision, and an unwavering belief in the mission we share with you. Sister Jeannine served tirelessly as a bridge between your generosity and the life-giving mission of the IHM Sisters.

We welcome Maureen Cislo as she assumes her leadership role as the next IHM Director of Mission Advancement. Maureen is eager to coordinate new development initiatives, continue to build strong relationships, and find new ways to share the IHM story. Through her efforts and your partnership, we are indeed witnessing “a new thing” spring forth — a future shaped by compassion, courage, and community.

As we move forward together, we do so with hope. Change is not something we fear; it is something we welcome — because we know that God is in it. And so are you.

With hearts full of gratitude, we thank you for walking this path with us. May the God of all new beginnings continue to bless you and your loved ones.

In peace and gratitude,

Sister Mary Ellen Tennity, IHM

General Superior

ANNUAL APPEAL CHANGES

We are making a change to this year’s Annual Appeal campaign. Instead of a separate Annual Appeal mailing in October, this year we are including a remittance envelope in our Annual Report (coming your way soon!). This envelope is dedicated solely for the Annual Appeal (unlike the envelope which is included in each magazine). The decision was made to include an Annual Appeal remittance envelope in the Annual Report to eliminate the additional cost associated with a separate mailing. We are always striving to be good stewards of your generous support! You can make a donation to the Annual Appeal using the remittance envelope, scanning the QR code, or visiting the IHM website. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Entrance Day

On September 7, Amanda Bielat (pictured left) and Mary Steinbicker (pictured right) entered the IHM Congregation as postulants.

During this year of Postulancy, Sister Mary Ann Spaetti, Director of Postulants (pictured center), will support Amanda and Mary as they continue their discernment of a religious vocation.

Amanda’s home parish is Queen of Peace, Ardsley, PA. Amanda graduated from Marywood University, and she holds a Master's Degree from the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.

Mary is from St. James Parish in Falls Church, VA. Mary is currently a senior at Immaculata University. Mary will continue her studies at Immaculata University during the postulant year.

We welcome these two young women and pray for their continued openness to God’s Spirit as they take this important step in their vocation journey.
