FEBRUARY

IHM Patron: St. Peter
IHM Virtue: Hope
Scripture: "Keep my life, for I am devoted to you;
save your servant who hopes in you" (Psalm 86).

A Touch of Ice Age

Iced trees hold beauty
cold, clear, crystal
their frozen, glistening branches
laden low with
tiny knobs of sparkling glory
no autumn brush can paint.

Soon the sun will loosen
imprisoned, frozen water
and let the trees
breathe free and warm
with life and spring again.

But in this biting, brilliant
winter hour, we learn that
Nature can use winter silence
as well as flaming colors
to praise the Lord with
ice and bitter cold.
