"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."
— John 13:34

Joe and Denise Dolan have been generous supporters of the IHM community for many years, a commitment rooted in Denise’s family connection. Her two older sisters, Sister Marie Renée Murphy and Sister Cheryl Ann Murphy, both entered the IHM community in the 1960s. “We have been closely connected,” Denise shared. “I feel blessed to be in the same family.”
Their bond with the IHM community extends beyond Denise’s sisters. Joe was taught by IHM Sisters during his formative years at Holy Innocents in Philadelphia, PA. “The ‘Powerhouse of Prayer’ has helped us numerous times,” they said. “It is only appropriate that we support a community that has done so much for all of us.”
Reflecting on the outpouring of love she received from the IHM community after the passing of her sister, Sister Cheryl Ann, Denise expressed deep gratitude. “I am honored to be a small part of this stellar community.”

| | FESTIVE FUN AT CAMILLA HALL | | | | | February was truly a month of love and adoration at Camilla Hall, beginning with the annual Jubilee Celebration. Sisters and staff gathered together to share a celebration marking the significant anniversaries of the religious profession of our sisters. The jubilee began with a special Eucharistic liturgy where jubilarians renew their vows, followed by festive gatherings with community, family, and friends. | | |
The sisters also celebrated Valentine's Day in their favorite, most festive way possible - by indulging in sweet treats and magical delights! By honoring Holy Valentine's Day, the sisters were able to snack on various sweets such as marshmallows, pretzels, and chocolate-covered fruit, provided by a lovely chocolate fountain.

Finding Joy in Being one with the Lord in all things
The moment I knew without a doubt that God was calling me to religious life was one evening after work, when I had dinner warming up in the oven.
I had been discerning religious life, in particular with the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. I had always wanted to get married and have a very large family. God had been showing me signs that he wanted me to become a religious sister instead, and I was still resisting. However, I was trying to really discern His will for my life.
In addition to attending discernment retreats, I was starting to implement spiritual practices into my life that religious sisters lived, such as attending daily Mass, regular spiritual reading, and praying the Liturgy of the Hours. The Liturgy of the Hours is the formal prayer of the Church, consisting of the reading of psalms and other scriptures at specific periods throughout the day. With the help of my spiritual director, I was attempting to pray Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer. The prayer book can be a little tricky to learn, and my spiritual director suggested that I could pray a shorter version that was printed in the Magnificat, a devotional periodical. I switched back and forth between this shorter version and the fuller Liturgy of the Hours.

Special congratulations to Maria, an intermediate level student at the IHM Center for Literacy, who became a citizen of the United States of America. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the IHM Sisters and volunteers from the IHM Center for Literacy, Maria was able to gain citizenship through the teaching of English language, technology, citizenship, and life skills for the community and workplace in America. We are very lucky to have the Center serving multi-ethnic, non-English-speaking adults in the Philadelphia region.

Black History Month
February is Black History Month. The achievements of Black Americans in the United States are celebrated during the month of February. This month also provides an opportunity to revisit the history of the Black American and to acknowledge the prosperity our country has achieved “off the backs” of our brown and black brothers and sisters.
