Israa Ali is the owner of Eat Nabati, a 100% plant-based eatery in Kensington Market. They serve modern middle eastern food inspired by what she ate growing up, the cuisine of Alexandria, a city on the Mediterranean coast of northern Egypt. Israa has maintained the flavour and texture of these traditional dishes while making them more nutritious, and inclusive of most diets.

Katie Hammill is the founder of Katie Hammill Nutrition, where she carries out her mission to simplify the complex relationship one can have with food to a place where healthy feels great and truly sustainable. Before The Momentous Occasion!

Earlier this year, we held our annual Graduation Workshops for our Toronto, Mississauga, Ottawa, Vancouver, Online Eastern, and Online Pacific campuses. While many students attended, many more of them who were not able to make these LIVE workshops, will be joining us at convocation on April 30!

These much-anticipated events are a culmination of hard work, dedication, perseverance, and passion required from each and every student completing IHN’s life-changing diploma program. Workshops were hosted by Elizabeth Papadopoulos (IHN Founder, Director), Colleen Smith (Mississauga Head Administrator), and Jason Madden (Vancouver Campus Manager). These students who gather together, are a brilliant assemblage of people who chose the path of healers. The connection between them revealed that campus culture is very much alive and well in the online space!
So many amazing human beings who we have come to know, admire, and be consistently in awe of, shared their time with us and each other. Those who couldn't make it were acknowledged by their classmates, with their presence felt in our hearts. Professional goal setting, meditations, visualizations and writing letters to one's self in the future were part of the workshop's events. Spirited, impromptu "introduce yourself and your practice" highlights were recorded for a feature production screened at their convocations. Class valedictorians were nominated shortly before the session came to a close, reminding the soon-to-be Certified Nutritional Practitioners of the critical role each will play in the profession.

The CDC has recently confirmed a longstanding belief that many in the health and wellness preach: society, as a whole, does not consume enough fruits and vegetables to support optimal health and wellness. In an April 5, 2022, article (4 minute read), author Jillian Levy reminds us that regular consumption of fruits and vegetables increases immune function and regulates blood sugar levels This report found that “[Only] 12.3% of adults reported meeting daily fruit requirements and only 10% met vegetable requirements.” Alumni of IHN have their favorite smoothie and soup recipes – terrific ways to increase daily consumption of those phytonutrients!

Asparagus is a green spring vegetable and, when harvested, should be eaten right away for best freshness. Asparagus was originally found growing in the wild in Greece, with thinner stalks and darker in color than the variety we enjoy today. Asparagus is a nutrient-packed vegetable with a good source of fibre, folate, vitamins A, C, E, K, and chromium, a trace mineral that enhances the ability of insulin to transport glucose from the bloodstream into cells. We recommend this Roasted Vegetables With Aioli recipe by IHN graduate Melissa Lanz.
