Most of us have no idea what an EDC is or how they impact our lives and our health. Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals can be found everywhere, in items we frequently use, such as shampoos, floss, deodorants, baby products, food, drinks, and household cleaners. The average person is exposed to 100s or even 1000s of EDCs per day, unaware these chemicals could be increasing their risk for disease. Join Petra for a fascinating and informative discussion on the problem with these pervasive chemicals and solutions for reducing your risk.

Recordings will be made available for those unable to attend in global time zones!

Onions and garlic contain phytochemical properties to support cardiovascular health through blood pressure and blood sugar regulation as well as controlling cholesterol levels. In a March 11 article (4 minute read), Dr. Joel Fuhrman reviews results of clinical trials and long-term studies regarding the health benefits of these popular foods. Dr. Fuhrman stated that findings included “[Organosulfur] sulfur compounds from garlic and onions inhibit platelet aggregation in vitro, to help prevent heart attacks by slowing blood clotting”. Dr. Fuhrman recommends that you don’t cut off too much of red onion peel, as the flavonoid level decreases as layers are removed!

Dates are a fruit grow in clusters on the date palm tree, native to the Middle East. The name “date” comes from the Greek word daktulos, which means fingers. Dates turn brown and wrinkle when fully ripened, resembling a raisin. They are high in natural sugar and fibre, and are often used as a sweetener in place of refined sugar. Dates have an excellent nutritional profile containing several vitamins and minerals, including calcium, vitamin K, magnesium, selenium and folate. We recommend this mouth- watering Raspberry Vegan Cheesecake recipe by IHN graduate Stephanie Singh.
