A Significant & Memorable Milestone

Yesterday, IHN turned 25! We thought that we would have a gentle and unimpeded quarter of a century celebration as a private career college but the universe had other plans. Turning 25 was not without facing—and making it through—one of the most unforeseen global pressures for academia, let alone the citizens of the world. It was on July 11, 1996 that the doors of our first, two classroom campus, opened on Merton Street in Toronto, Ontario. Advertising the school's launch, holding our first open house, developing schedules, faculty and administration were the focus. The curriculum was firmly established earlier that year ready to be generously shared. Classes would not start until January 1997. Fundamentals would be taught, and the bar set, by Elizabeth Papadopoulos. The first graduating group held Rick Tufts, Diane Labrecque, Terra Dimock and Eva Cabaca! Eva is still one of our most beloved faculty members and a master of education, both figuratively and literally!

As many of you know, who receive our regular emails, we are blessed with four campuses in the physical space, holding multiple classrooms, to be used again this September! We are proud to have emerged from 17 months of the pandemic with two coexisting online programs, that mirror our in-class program, held through Zoom, with the vast majority of students learning LIVE.

The world is fortunate enough to be gifted with 3000 + graduates, with many more soon-to-be members of the IHN professional family, spanning the world. We would love you to join us. The thriving collective of diverse and talented holistic educators, which you could be a part of, is what gives IHN hope that the future is met with health freedom, optimal longevity and joy!
Jaimattie Strives For Excellence & Maximum Productivity

Jaimattie (Jai) Brasse works from the Toronto, Ontario campus, as the first (and very enthusiastic!) point of contact for anyone reaching head office. She has been in her role as Student Services Administrator & Liaison since April 2021 but it feels like she's been part of our team forever. She immediately plugged into our systems, our resonance and our mission. She is responsible for managing IHN head office while deploying resources to staff and students, and handling the hub's unyielding inquiries from near and far. She ensures clear communication between departments, campuses, and students while keeping exemplary records for all interactions and activities. Her kindness is exuded through all of her actions. It's unanimous among staff and students that we have found a true IHN spirit in Jai! She brings strong customer service skills and attention to detail into her role, as she graduated with honours from the Office Administration Executive program from Durham College. She is excited to advance her education, and by extension her service to our community, by enrolling in IHN’s program this September!

Learn The Principles Of Nutrition For Training, Performance & Recovery

The main focus of this course is the role of nutrition in fitness and sports. Students learn how to provide nutritional advice to athletes to support their high-performing activities. Pictured above, Angelo Greco is captured teaching a Fitness & Sports Nutrition lecture to students mid-class. At that moment, this discussion was on the nutritional and energy needs of female athletes. Nutritional intake is a vital component that has an impact on the physical performance of all athletes. Methods are focused on where nutrition can help maximize muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility; through building muscle and reducing fat. Techniques for guiding athletes in proper nutrition in training, and effective methods to prevent dehydration and sports-related injuries due to insufficient nutrient levels. Real case studies are examined, exploring methods and techniques in optimizing sports performance with proper nutrition.

Honey From Rhododendron Flowers Have Psychoactive Effects

The lengths it takes to harvest “mad honey” are only for the daring. A February 7, 2020 article (3 minute read) from MNN, “World's Largest Honey Bee Makes Rare Hallucinogenic Honey” by Bryan Nelson explains, “the Himalayan giant honeybee is a subspecies found only in its namesake mountains…the honey gets its famous properties from toxins in rhododendron flowers that the bees eat in spring, the only time of year when the honey is hallucinogenic.” Should the collection of this honey continue, we hope it will be in a sustainable way. If you have a chance to watch the behind-the-scenes video of the documentary “The Last Honey Hunter”, do! You'll learn that small and large doses of honey have two very different psychotropic effects.

The origin of Matcha can be traced all the way back to the Tang Dynasty in China, c 618-907. Matcha has been a part of Japanese culture for over 800 years and drinking Matcha was popularized by Chinese Zen Buddhist monks. Matcha is a type of green tea made by grinding young tea leaves into a powder. Matcha is bright green, packed with antioxidants. It boosts metabolism, detoxifies the body, naturally calms the mind, enhances mood, and aids in concentration.
