Paul Demeda Shares Material From His Con Ed Course

Join us TONIGHT, Tuesday June 14 at 7:00 pm ET/4:00 pm PT for a 1 hour webinar as Paul Demeda presents on how the idea that what you eat affects how you feel, is accepted by many people – and also well supported with research. However, food and nutrients are rarely considered as a key strategy for supporting mental health. Mental health issues are predictably an ever-increasing problem in today’s world. The mainstream medical approach has issues with ineffectiveness and unpleasant side effects – which leaves many sufferers turning to the holistic approach for better solutions.

The 51st International Orthomolecular Medicine Today Conference was held on May 13 and 14, with 10 presentations containing lots of relevant, useful, and high-quality information. Dr Paul Marik discussed medications, nutrients, and natural substances for addressing COVID-19 pathology, and Dr. Peter McCullough presented research on the prevalence and pathology of vaccine-induced myocarditis. The negative effects of antidepressant medications, their withdrawal symptoms, and elimination strategies were explained by Dr. James Greenblatt. Dr Joseph Pizzorno spoke about arsenic toxicity and how to address mitigating and detoxification, while Dr. William Code discussed the importance of brain detoxification and healthy glutathione activity. Doctors Linda Rapson, Caroline MacCallum and Naoko Hitosugi presented on specific nutrients, acupuncture, cannabinoids, and stem cell therapy, as non-pharmaceutical pain management approaches.
Most of us have no idea what an EDC is or how they impact our lives and our health. Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals can be found everywhere, in items we frequently use, such as shampoos, floss, deodorants, baby products, food, drinks, and household cleaners. The average person is exposed to 100s or even 1000s of EDCs per day, unaware these chemicals could be increasing their risk for disease. Watch Petra's talk for a fascinating and informative discussion on the problem with these pervasive chemicals and solutions for reducing your risk.

Seeing New Graduates, Like Pinalben, On Campus!

Over the last few weeks, our newest colleagues have been dropping by our campuses to pick up their Diploma and CNP Certification. It is always a joy to see our peers and take photos to celebrate their incredible accomplishment. Pictured above, is the lovely Pinalben Rajodiya. She is an April 2022 graduate from IHN's Online Eastern program, visiting our Mississauga, Ontario campus.

Prior to attending IHN, Pinalben had already been in the health field for over a decade. She was a medical officer in hospitals, in India, and eventually opened her own practice as a homeopath. Since moving to Canada, Pinalben has become a massage therapist and is now registered as a Canadian homeopath. She chose to attend IHN to combine nutrition and homeopathy, to better serve her clients.

Not a current student or graduate? Feel free to pop in and visit our campuses any time. We would be pleased to meet you, answer any questions and give you a tour. Our current administration teams are happy to connect with potential students and, not to worry, it's only alumni who endure IHN's paparazzi!

Where There Is Anna, There Is Cyanobacteria

Her boyfriend calls her Spirulanna! Anna did a presentation on spirulina for her class back when she was taking IHN's Professional Skills Development course, but that's not when she first became an advocate of this blue-green algae. She was first introduced to spirulina in the early 90s. It was then that Anna discovered it's amazing benefits. From being a complete protein, rich in Vitamin B12, Vitamin K, a powerful antioxidant spirulina quickly became an energizing and alkalizing part of Anna's daily routine. Her favourite way to take spirulina is combined with wheatgrass, chlorella with other power boosters. The elixir is a go-to, that keeps her bright, energetic and smiling through always busy IHN afternoons.

Anna is the Head Administrator and Program Advisor at IHN's head office. She is an admired and key member of the close-knit teams at IHN—click and scroll to see Anna's feature from June 28, 2021

A Clinical Practice Workshop for Nutritional Practitioners

Join Sofia Pistrila in this IHN exclusive one day workshop designed to help practitioners understand the crucial importance of a healthy Extracellular Matrix (ECM) and Lymphatic System; to recognize red flags and symptoms of dysregulation, how pathology develops in the ECM and its causative factors. Sofia will dig deep into the relatively new and fascinating knowledge of mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) and Cell Danger Response (CDR). Various therapeutic strategies to reinstate health, including manual, drainage and electromagnetic therapies as well as hydration, sleep and supplementation will be discussed. A significant part of the workshop, the second half of the day, is dedicated to a detailed and comprehensive look at the “sick house syndrome” and mold with discussions on origins, testing and detailed treatment plans including diet, lifestyle and supplementation.

Key Topics:

Foundational understanding of healing: Pleomorphism or Terrain Theory
What is the Extracellular Matrix and its structure
• The link between the ECM and Lymphatic System
• Mold, mycotoxins, testing, detox pathways, treatment plans, protocols

Lisa refers to minerals as the foundation of the home that need to be kept in check in order to make sure “the house is strong and stable.” HTMA testing along with bloodwork from your client’s doctor can give a practitioner a clearer picture of protocol development. In a single hair sample, the tissue is stable over time and provides several months of biochemical activity versus just a snapshot from blood work.

Regardless if you enjoy the taste of cilantro, it has been consumed by humans for 8000 years as a flavouring herb. Scientists have discovered its anticonvulsant, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. A September 19, 2019 article (3 minute read) uncovers a study's results proving it’s ability to delay certain seizures most common in epilepsy and other diseases. Dr. Geoff Abbott explains how cilantro “activates a class of potassium channels in the brain to reduce seizure activity.” Love it or hate it, Abbott suggests cilantro may help in future development of safer, effective anticonvulsant medications.

Nutty, cheesy flavoured “nooch” is a rare protein in the vegetarian and plant-based categories as it contains all 9 essential amino acids. On its own, it is an excellent source of fibre, complete protein, potassium, zinc, and some B vitamins. It is often fortified with B12 and folate, making it a popular addition in vegan diets where B12 is difficult to source. Nutritional yeast is naturally gluten and sugar-free, made from deactivated yeast, like that used in brewing and baking. Try it on popcorn, or in a dairy-free sauce as IHN graduate Bonnie Flemington has done in her Cheesy Roasted Cauliflower recipe.
