Paul Demeda Shares Material From His Con Ed Course

Join us on Wednesday March 1 at 7:00 pm ET/4:00 pm PT for a 1 hour webinar as Paul Demeda presents on how foods and nutrients support or compromise how your brain works, and how you feel. The idea that what you eat affects how you feel, is generally accepted by many people, and also well supported with research. However, in conventional circles, food and nutrients are still rarely considered as a targeted and key strategy for mental health support.

Digital "Print" Material For Potential Students

Every year, we would meet potential students at amazing consumer health events like Toronto's Total Health Show, Whole Life Expo and Vancouver's Wellness Show and CanFit Pro. And every year, we would hand out our latest full colour brochures. We spend an awful long time making them as distinct, bold, beautiful and as delicious as the field of holistic nutrition! Brochures are now only digital, so if you still have yours as a potential student, it might now be an IHN collector's item! The 2022-2023 edition includes information on the Holistic Nutrition movement, a Program Overview, Admission Requirements, Careers, our current Rules and Regulations, the Curriculum and IHN's Faculty along with all the information you need about Tuition, Fees and Schedules. Use it to review, so that when you attend a Program Advising session you are able to articulate a full suite of questions you want answered!

Admissions, Enrollment & Support

Emily knows that, Ní neart go cur le chéile—There is strength in unityAnd with that, recently came to be an integral part of IHN's team. At the end of last year, it was heartwarming news from Campus Manager Jason Madden that he had brought on our Emerald Isle, Emily Griffin, to join us as the Vancouver In-Class and Online Pacific Student Services Administration & Liaison. Emily graduated from IHN in April 2022, sharing with us that the program was a transformative experience and how excited she is to have students earn knowledge that improves their own lives, and the lives of those around them. Her favourite courses were Fundamentals of Nutrition and Comparative Diets, but can be heard describing every course with enthusiasm, as it opens doors to a new way of seeing health and healing. She let us know that she enjoys having the opportunity to build relationships and be amongst IHN faculty, admin, and her soon-to-be peers as they move through the 19 course curriculum, deepening their understanding of holistic principles.

A little about our newest administrative team member:

Emily loves all things health and wellness. She grew up in Ireland, in a family that ran an Alternative Health Clinic focused on energy work and sound therapy. Holistic health and healing was in her genes! She is a qualified certified Bio-Energy Therapist, HiddenMind Corrective Sound Therapist and Touch for Health Kinesiologist. Alongside working part-time at IHN, she has her own nutritional coaching business, Awakened Nutrition, where she works with women one-on-one, focusing on hormone health, cycle syncing and gut health. She runs workshops and retreats in Canada and Ireland. Her approaches with food, supplementation and frequency modalities make her a true, integrative MindBody practitioner. Emily has called Vancouver home for 7 years and loves the outdoors. You can find her hiking, kayaking and camping in the summer, and on the ski hill in the winter. When she’s not working, Emily is travelling to new places, in search of good food, new adventures and like-minded people!

Emily can be reached on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 am-5:00 pm Pacific.

Rise and shine! Do you struggle awakening in the morning? Do you constantly hit the snooze button until it is time to leave for work? Morning sunlight can be a great way to start your morning. In a September 8, 2022 article (4 min read), Cassidy Klingman shares many benefits of regular morning sunshine, such as “help regulate your circadian rhythm” and “profound mood-boosting effects.” We spend most of our time indoors, missing out on the benefits of the sun. Sit in the sun before work or get an early morning workout outdoors. Your body will thank you!

One of the great things about this dish is you can use whatever vegetables you have on hand, fresh or frozen, so feel free to substitute! This dish comes together quite quickly, with the longest part being infusing the broth and cooking the sweet potato. We recommend this Winter Nourish Bowl + Balanced Green Goddess Dressing recipe by IHN graduate, Annaliisa Kapp.
